Supermodel Karen Elson has always been multi-talented, so when we heard that Karen’s latest project would be conceived in the recording studio we weren’t the least bit surprised! The bohemian chic model announced last night on Twitter that she is “very excited” to partner with artist Beck on a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Gold Dust Woman” as part of a tribute album to the iconic folksy band titled, “Just Tell Me That You Want Me.”
As the founding member of The Citizens Band who has since gone on to release her own solo album, The Ghost Who Walks, we couldn’t imagine a more appropriate artist to channel the eclectic spirit of Stevie Nicks for this modern rendition. Between her design work with Nine West for the label’s “Vintage America” collection in April 2011- think back to those crushed velvet wedges and tapestry painted handbags inspired by the Elizabethan era- and drawing inspiration from Patsy Cline and Nashville’s music scene in her own solo tracks, it’s undeniable that this redheaded vixen knows a thing or two about chart-topping hits.
The 17 track album will be released on August 14, and will have Karen lined up next to the hit band MGMT who is covering “Future Games,” and Kate Moss’s husband Jamie Hince from The Kills covering “Dream.”
Rock on- gold dust woman!
