This week is certainly shaping up to be a big one for Karlie Kloss, whose August 3rd birthday now coincides with news of the model’s upcoming campaign for the highly-anticipated Target x Neiman Marcus Holiday Collaboration!
As the face of the 50-piece collection, which will include 24 top CFDA designers in what is already being labeled one of the most extravagant fashion collaborations yet, Karlie will star in a series of ads “designed to drive excitement, fuel buzz and curiosity.” According to WWD reports, the yet to be released ads will involve “a lot of movement” on Kloss’s end- a suiting role for the model whose dance background and long limbs will come in handy.
“Her background and familiarity with movement and dance are perfect,” said a Target spokesperson to WWD.
Although Target rarely taps high-fashion models for its campaigns, it seems that for this star-studded affair the retailer has upped its game by enlisting the Karlie, along with former W fashion and style director, Alex White, and celebrity hair stylist Orlando Pita. The campaign will also be shot by Craig McDean, and is said to be “very comprehensive and robust and will include all mediums with unique elements specially designed for online, print, out of home, TV, and social media.”
Karlie’s campaign news also follows the soon-to-be 20-year-old’s coveted spots on both Vogue Japan and Vogue UK’s must-see September issues. Decked out in a gleaming 70’s inspired look for the UK, and a Gothic-inspired YSL chainmail dress for Japan, Karlie seems to be grabbing the spotlight where ever she goes, and we couldn’t be more thrilled!
So, either the entire fashion industry has officially deemed the mid-western beauty the model of the moment, or this rising runway star is being treated to an early birthday celebration. Regardless, we’re certain you’ll be seeing a lot more of Karlie in the coming months, so get ready to join the “I love Karlie” fan club today!
