The new year is shaping up to be a good one for Stuart Weitzman, as the purveyor of fancy footwear has just landed what is arguably its biggest campaign star to date!
After two seasons with Natalia Vodianova at the helm, Weitzman is switching things up by enlisting Kate Moss for its Spring 2013 campaign. And while Kate’s portfolio certainly speaks for itself, it was Kate’s close, personal friend, and photographer of this campaign, Mario Testino, that proved the supermodel’s true caliber.
“It was amazing to me how super professional she is,” said Weitzman of his model muse. “We did shots of her wearing six beautiful shoes, and we only had one retake. That’s not normal— usually you’d be re-doing and re-doing. But her first shot out of the box was perfect.”
While Testino has previously worked on the shoe designer’s campaigns, this season marks the first time that Kate herself has modeled exclusively for an American-designed shoe brand— a partnership we can all thank Testino for, as it was the lensman who first suggested the campaign change up. Kate reportedly grew interested in the position after taking note of Testino’s previous ads for Weitzman, which led to a meeting during which Kate asked Weitzman herself, “why don’t you use me?” Fast forward a few months, and it looks like Kate and Weitzman have found their perfect fit!
