One British pound ($1.56 USD), won’t get you very far in today’s economy, unless you’re looking to buy a soda, or perhaps a pack of top-rated fashion models. Yes, that’s right, models! We couldn’t believe it either, but as London prepares for the Olympics opening ceremony, now just around the corner, news has surfaced that top models Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Lily Cole, Stella Tennant, and Lily Donaldson are all expected to walk in a fashion show for the closing ceremony- and for much less than they’re used to! Despite being well-established in the industry, each of the gorgeous gals will only receive a single British pound as compensation for strutting their stuff for a worldwide audience. What ever happened to supers not even getting out of bed for less than 10K?
Sadly, there will be one leggy model missing from the show, as Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has passed on the gig in favor of boosting her image as an actress. No worries though, the Games have found an impressive replacement in the form of Georgia May Jagger, who just may know a thing or two about performing for audiences around the world.
The closing spectacular, entitled, “A Symphony of British Music,” will have the Brit beauties walking the catwalk to David Bowie hits Fashion and Rebel Rebel, while showcasing the best of British fashion- we’re keeping our fingers crossed that Alexander McQueen gets a major Olympic moment! With a set list that also includes musical performances by UK legends Queen, George Michael, Annie Lennox, Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Elton John, along with newcomers One Direction, Ed Sheeran, and Jessie J, we can’t imagine this ceremony being anything but a gold medal performance!
