She’s done it again folks!
After the surprise cover was leaked over the webosphere earlier this afternoon, Sports Illustrated has confirmed via Twitter that Kate is in fact their pick for 2013, a title that will officially be announced Monday night on “Late Night with David Letterman.”
Leaked photos aside, the second Kate cover no doubt comes as a bit of a surprise, given the rumor mill’s recent specualtion that either Anne V or 2012 “Rookie of the Year,” Nina Agdal, were the chosen finalists. And, given that Kate has been busy racking up the high-fashion credits for the likes of Vogue, CR Fashion Book and V Magazine as of late, one would not have expected the blonde bombshell to dive back into her bikini so soon.
But boy does she wear it well! Following her triumphant cover debut last year at just 19-years-old, Kate is seen sporting just an itty-bitty white string bikini bottom with a white furry parka to match. But don’t worry, her curves are far from covered up! The all-American beauty looks as stunning as ever as a “polar bare” set against the backdrop of the distant Antarctica. While the photo is arresting itself, we really have to hand it Kate here— rocking a bikini in the arctic takes extreme modeling to new heights! But then again, if anyone can pull it off, it’s got to be Kate. The two-timing cover girl has found nothing but skyrocketing success since last year’s cover hit the newsstands, a streak that will no doubt live on following this year’s incredible honor. What’s more, Kate is also the first SI swimsuit model to land consecutive covers since Tyra Banks accomplished the feat in ‘96 and ‘97, living proof that this bikini babe has just begun her supermodel reign! Congratulations Kate on your beautiful Sports Illustrated cover (again), it’s certainly well deserved!
You can catch all of this year’s gorgeous swimsuit models in the special 50th anniversary issue of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition when it hits newsstands Tuesday, February 12!
