Some could say that President Obama was at fault for the crazy traffic on Wednesday night in Manhattan, but we’ll claim it was the masses of fashion insiders making their way to Roger Vivier to toast Inès de la Fressange and her new book.
The supermodel and her coauthor, Sophie Gachet, took up residency on the second floor of the store, entertaining an endless line of well-wishers and fans and signing copy after copy. Piles of their style guide, Parisian Chic, quickly dwindled as revelers bought in multiples for their friends and family. And if the party, hosted by Elle magazine, was any indication of the book’s popularity, good luck snagging your own copy. “The success is amazing! In France it’s a best seller, it was out of stock immediately and we had to reprint it 10 times!” Inès explained. “I was thinking, ‘Why should I do something like this? The magazines are there for that.’ But the magazines give you information and trends, but sometimes just helping women in the early morning to dress up - they don’t always do it.”
Find a copy, if you can, find a quiet space, and pour into Inès’ advice. We can’t promise immediate transformation to supermodel style, but we can promise a brilliant book full of advice and fashion secrets, straight from Inès.
