This September Fashion Week will kick off with a huge celebration, which includes everyone, not just fashion insiders.
Vogue, NYC & Company, New York’s City Hall, and the CFDA organized Fashion’s Night Out with the idea that a shopping night will boost sales for the retail economy. On September 10, stores will stay open until 11 p.m., driving shoppers into stores with promotions and celeb appearances and performances.
And who is the face of this initiative? None other than Lily Donaldson. She’s modeling the shirts designed with the date and time of the event along the city’s skyline to promote the night of shopping. In addition to bringing sales to the retailers, there’s a charity aspect, as the shirts will be on sale to benefit the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. Shoppers are also asked to donate clothes to aid HIV/AIDS organizations in the city. While right now the event is only slated for New York, there are talks to make this international, so hopefully we’ll see Lily modeling shirts of every major city.
