Literary Figures and Good Deeds

On Friday night, UNICEF and Montblanc joined to celebrate the Signature International Cultural and Charitable Photo Project at Sotheby’s. The evening honored 12 actresses for their involvement with the exhibit, which featured them posing as their favorite literary heroine. Lauren Hutton chose Countess Ellen Olenska from Edith Wharton’s The Age of Innocence. “I was really impressed how she was supporting this and believing in us,” said Lutz Bethge, Montblanc International CEO. “I think Lauren is really someone who is interested in organization.” The portraits are to be auctioned off, and the proceeds will go to aid UNICEF.

But Lauren isn’t the only beauty giving of her time for the charity. Dayle Haddon recently traveled to Darfur with UNICEF CEO Caryl Stern. Stern discussed her experience on the trip with Dayle, saying, “We giggled our way through that entire trip. You take this beautiful woman and you see her come down in the morning, wearing these beautiful but casual clothes. We get to Darfur and we get to the camp, she’s on the ground in the filth with the kids, and they’re all over her. She’s singing songs with them, dancing with them, and she’s holding the hands of the women as they talk.”
