Last night began with a product launch by Maybelline, but this was no ordinary editor event. The penthouse of the Glass Houses was transformed into a piano bar with white couches and a stage, which was set for a performance by Bernadette Peters. The stunning singer wore a long gold dress and entertained the crowd with an amazing rendition of “Fever,” as well as a new song, which she wrote the music and lyrics for. Along the sides of the space were displays of the new Color Sensational line made to look like a woman’s vanity. The new collection stars Christy Turlington, Anna Wang, Jessica White, and Adriana Lima, each showing off one of the color families (pink, plum, natural, and red, respectively), which translates to 48 new shades in lipsticks, glosses, and liners. The products are available in stores in July and retail for $6.49 to $7.49.
Afterward it was off to the Lower East Side, where the music continued for the Embrace the Blue celebrity DJ event at the Angel Orensanz Fashionation. And though Gemma Ward was a no-show for her DJ moment, Hilary Rhoda stopped in briefly to support her fellow model. Christian Siriano and his (real) DJ boyfriend, Brad Walsh, played crowd favorites from Lady Gaga and Britney Spears, and Harley Viera Newton—another experienced DJ—came to listen to the new musical talents, but never took to the turntables herself.
