Hi Modelinia readers! It’s Kalyn here from Models of the Runway with a rundown on the kickoff! As one of the models on the new series, my job is to let you know extra juicy details from behind the scenes.
Yesterday’s season premiere of Project Runway, followed by Models of the Runway, was highly anticipated and absolutely thrilling. While the shows were filmed nearly a year ago, a lawsuit kept them off the air until now.
To recap last night’s Models of the Runway, the challenge for the designers was “Red Carpet Ready” and Lindsay Lohan was the guest judge. Designer Ari Fish was kicked off for her conceptual, but slightly outlandish “space diaper,” so her model, Erika Macke, was extremely worried she would get aufed as well. In the end, it was Yosuzi Sylvester (Mitchell’s model) who had to pack her bags. Poor Yosuzi—especially after she had to walk half-naked down the runway and her designer claimed that her reported measurements were not correct, which had to have been embarrassing! I think I can speak for all of the models when I say that we were all sad to see such a fun, beautiful girl go so soon.
Designer Christopher Straub and his model Katie won the challenge, and as the winning model, she was awarded a trip to the Emmy’s gifting suite. She picked Tara to go along with her and they came back to our lovely pink loft with tons of goodies, including diamonds—which made some of the girls a little jealous!
The way that the models are chosen is different this season, which was fun because it made it more of a competition for us. The winning designer gets immunity in the next challenge and first choice of models, and then the rest of the designers’ names are placed in a hat. When Heidi draws their name, they have the opportunity to choose the model they want, which made for lots of stealing and drama both with the models and the designers.
Last night definitely started the season off right, and there are so many surprises to come. Next week will have everyone laughing, and you’ll see the models in a way you’ve never seen most of them before! Be sure to tune in, and I’ll keep you posted with the latest!
