Miranda Kerr's Nutrition Tips

Before Miranda Kerr became the international supermodel we know and love she studied nutrition. To this day, she pays close attention to her diet and lifestyle to keep her healthy and in top form. Modelinia asked the supermodel for a few tips on how she stays gorgeous, and had Skinny and the City founder Tanya Zuckerbrot discuss the benefits of her lifestyle.

Miranda:

“It’s really important to drink a lot of water. I drink from 1.5 to 2 liters of water a day.”

Tanya:

“Water plays a key role in nearly every bodily function, including digestion, circulation, transporting nutrients and oxygen, and regulating body temperature. Water also fills you up so you tend to eat less. When you don’t drink enough fluids your body gets dehydrated and you may feel weak, shaky, or tired.”

Miranda:

“I think it’s important to drink raw juices. Raw juicing is really great to get all your vitamins and minerals.”

Tanya:

“Raw fruits and juices do provide many important vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium, and magnesium. Whole fruits and vegetables provide not only essential vitamins and minerals, but the added benefit of fiber. Fiber is the key nutrient to feeling full for long periods of time and improves overall health. However when fruits and vegetables are juiced, a significant amount of fiber is lost in the process. Studies have shown that drinking your calories in the form of a juice or sweetened beverage has no effect on satiety levels and can lead to increased caloric intake.”

Miranda:

“Eat for your blood type. I eat for my blood type. I’m an A.”

Tanya:

“The blood-type diet categorizes what a person should or should not eat based on their individual blood type. There are several problems with the blood type diet: 1) There is no scientific evidence that demonstrates a link between blood type, types of foods to eat, and body weight. 2) It is unrealistic when family members have different blood types. 3) Specific food groups are eliminated and can lead to nutritional deficiencies.”

Miranda:

“Try to eat as much raw fresh organic produce as possible. I live not far from Union Square, so I’m always there at the market. They have a lot of organic products and I also like to go to Whole Foods. I go to this lady who sells really great goat’s milk yogurt.”

Tanya:

“Raw, organic produce offers many health benefits, such as increased energy, better digestion, improved skin appearance, weight loss, and decreased risk of heart disease. Raw vegetables contain high quantities of magnesium, potassium, fiber, folate, and health-promoting phytochemicals, which your body needs to function properly.”
