Lauren Hanawalt, our model blogger, is here to continue her Model in the City series. This time she’s off to Sydney.
The thing I love the most about modeling is being part of the amazing process of creating a beautiful image. Fashion truly is a form of art, and it’s an honor to be able to provide inspiration for people who greatly inspire me. To me, the best shoots are when I am shooting for a photographer’s personal interest, because there is no limit, no standards to be met, or brands necessary to be used.
The biggest personal project I took part of was with Australia’s finest: photographer Bec Parsons and stylist Imogene Barron. The two wanted to put out their own book of beautiful images without having to worry about being inhibited by advertisers or magazine guidelines. I shot in the studio and on location with Bec and Imogene for four days! From the amazing lighting created in the studio to the beautiful beaches of Sydney, it was great to be a part of a project that the photographer and stylist were so passionate about. Myself, as well as other amazing models such as Allegra Carpenter and Alisa Frolkina, were styled in a wide variety of clothes…everything from Australia’s newest designers to more established names like Burberry and Gucci.
This will surely create a buzz in Sydney’s fashion world. Not only did they have an opening in Blank Space Gallery in Sydney for the launch of this book entitled Love Want, but the images are also going to be part of a biannual magazine that they are starting. How exciting—now more than 20 images of myself are going to be featured in a book! How often are we able to enjoy purely beautiful fashion imagery without being bothered by the fuss of advertisers?
