With the majority of the September magazine covers unveiled, we’ve been wondering what’s been holding up our fashionable friends over at Vogue Paris, as they’ve managed to keep mum about the all-important issue throughout the past few weeks of cover releases. Finally, after much speculation, our questions have been answered as the foreign glossy has revealed the holdout issue today, officially debuting the ‘zine’s surprising new look and spectacular trio of supermodel cover girls: Kate Moss, Daria Werbowy, and Lara Stone!
For the first redesigned issue, Editor-in-Chief, Emmanuelle Alt, enlisted the trusted superstars for three separate covers that were surely a part of the French edition’s challenge to Carine Roitfeild’s upcoming CR Fashion Book. However, despite there being three very different models for the cover, the issue is surprisingly simple. Each of the three glamazons were shot in the same black lace Dolce & Gabbana dress set against a muted grey background with nearly identical hair and makeup looks. Shot by Mert & Marcus, the issue’s theme was all about the color “black,” and was said to reflect the brand’s look in the Sixties and Seventies. Vogue Paris’s makeover was all about the simplicity and cleaner design aesthetic that Alt and Condé Nast France president, Xavier Romatet, had in mind in order to “reaffirm the magazine’s point of view with a chic, timeless identity.”
“Everyone fantasies about Paris,” Alt told WWD. “It’s the concept of the ‘Parisienne.’ The ‘Parisienne’ is a girl who makes people dream worldwide, rightly or wrongly, a girl who represents a particular style, a taste, an allure.”
Style, taste, and allure- sounds like Kate, Daria, and Lara to us.
The trio of top models covers will hit newsstands August 23rd- get ‘em while you can!
