While the Model Lounge has become to go-to spot for models to find a bit of relaxation and fun between castings, meetings, or fittings, the creators behind the lounge decided to up their offerings and created an afternoon of informative classes, just in time for Fashion Week!
The Smartwater Model Lounge invited master walking coach Mac Folkes and casting director Natalie Joos to impart their knowledge - from strutting tips to casting hints.
Natalie fielded questions from models including Joan Smalls on topics ranging from appropriate attire for castings (limited accessories, legs for Spring shows, mascara only) to shoe choice (flats to walk around in, but change into heels before meetings) to preferred walks (simple, don’t strut - and for newer girls, walk like you’d walk down the street.)
Afterwards, outfitted in Christian Siriano for Payless heels, the models took over a giant room in the lounge to take part in a walking class from former agent and genius behind many a model’s catwalk prowess, Mac. With his assistant of the day, Damaris Lewis, Mac taught the models just how to walk down a runway, and imparted his number one tip: Confidence is the key to bringing it.
But that’s not all - the Model Lounge is launching their brand new location at the new Hotel Gansevoort for Fashion Week, providing the models with another respite from the crazy schedule of shows!
