The past three seasons have focused on Fernanda Motta as the face of John John Denim, but as of late, there’s a bit of a switch coming for the brand. Over the years, Fernanda transitioned her role as model into muse, and finally into designer. “John John is a friend from Brazil,” she explained. “I’ve been doing his campaign for a long time and we became friends. Every time he was getting tips from me and my modeling friends. He’d created some pieces just for me, then it was like, why don’t we do something for us?” Thus Fernanda Motta Loves John John Denim was born. ”It’s his style with my preferences. I want it sexy but chic - cool, trendy, Brazilian.”
Now, she’s relinquishing her role as the face of the campaign to a fellow model BFF - Irina Shayk! ”I have a Brazilian soul,” Irina said, despite her Russian heritage. Along with the new face of the brand comes a new sexy feel, thanks to a combination of Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated favorite photographer, Stewart Shining and art director Lorenzo Martone. He captured Irina in her John John Denim, accessorized with a Hirotaka ring, embodying the collection’s inspiration of ”downtown NY girls” that work hard during the day, and rock at the night at the penthouse of Standard Hotel in New York. ”I’m so excited to be working with this Brazilian brand - hopefully I can go there for Carnival!”
