Happy Fashion Week!
What a rush it was to be at the Project Runway finale show Friday morning! For Season 7, ten stunning collections were shown instead of the usual 3 or 4, and Bryant Park was buzzing with the murmur of favorites and standouts for this season! It will be interesting to see who ends up being named the winner—the judges have a very hard decision to make!
Speaking of judges, Heidi Klum looked gorgeous in a short cutout dress, and it was great to see Nina Garcia, Michael Kors, and Tim Gunn. The guest judge was Faith Hill, who could have passed as Heidi’s sister! As they sat in the front row jotting down notes and looking closely at the collections, guests swooned over the different designers’ creations.
The designers introduced their collections and shared with the crowd the inspiration for their lines, which ranged from “Things that aren’t alive but grow anyway, like crystals” to “1940s German-Russian military.” While each collection was unique, my top choices were Anthony, Mila, and Emilio because they showed individuality and fashion-forward thinking with their lines.
The winning designer receives $100,000 to start his or her line and a $50,000 technology package, so these designers have some serious incentive! Also, with the addition of the spinoff series, Models of the Runway, the model paired with the winning designer receives $25,000 from L’Oréal.
