Like the Met Ball and Academy Awards, the annual New York amfAR gala is an event that we look forward to every year, and judging by last night’s red carpet lineup, it’s easy to see why!
Despite the freezing cold temperatures, Hollywood A-listers and fashion influencers turned out by the dozens for the black tie dinner being held at Cipriani Wall Street. Sarah Jessica Parker, Chloe Sevigny, Carine Roitfeld and Alexa Chung were all on hand for the stylish soiree, looking fabulous as expected, but forgive us when we say that no one lit up the red carpet quite like the models!
Like a warm-up to Fashion Week, one by one the models paraded— or rather shivered— down the red carpet, causing jaws from one of the carpet to the other. Chrissy Teigen, Toni Garrn, Karlie Kloss and Carol Alt all opted for winter whites in its many forms. Chrissy looked modern and chic—not to mention totally adorable on the arm of John Legend—in a polished long-sleeve Roland Mouret dress.
Meanwhile, Toni Garrn went sultry in a full-length lace Pucci gown, while Karlie looked as cute as ever in a sparkly Michael Kors mini-dress. Following not far behind was Victoria’s Secret Angel Doutzen Kroes, who provided a fresh pop of color in her strapless orange J. Mendel gown. Also adding some oomph to the usual red carpet set was Crystal Renn, who proved to be one of the most stunning women of the night in a curve hugging ruby Zac Posen gown and lust-worthy Lorraine Shwartz jewels. Also making the rounds were models Anne V in a eye-catching printed Pucci frock, Frida Gustavsson in a sexy BLK DNM tuxedo pant suit, Lily Donaldson in a black strapless leather column dress and Poppy Delevingne in a very ladylike grey and pearl-embellished Chanel gown. And, let us not forget the lovely Alana Bunte, who on top of landing our Top 10 Fresh Face list, also stunned in a delicate Valentino embroidered number.
Of course, the black tie affair did a lot more than just showcase the best of the fashion week to come. The amfAR gala has quickly grown into one of the world’s most high-profile AIDS benefits, and this year, the style set was paying special tribute to three of its leading contributors, among them Heidi Klum! The supermodel was honored alongside Chairman of the Board of amfAR, designer Kenneth Cole, and amfAR Ambassador Janet Jackson, for her years of exceptional contributions. Taking to the stage in a black bejeweled halter dress by Michael Kors and a stunning navel-length jewel necklace, Heidi proved to be beautiful both inside and out as she ditched the scripted speech and spoke straight from the heart for her fellow guests. As the evening progresses, the charitable crowd also enjoyed a live auction featuring a custom designed handbag by Sarah Jessica Parker that Chrissy Teigen admitted to having her eye on, along with a special performance by Ceelo Green.
As always, the evening proved to be a total success, both in terms of style and philanthropy, not to mention the perfect start to Fashion Week. Check out all of the gorgeous model looks below!
