The biggest fashion celebration is happening on May 4th: the Met’s Costume Institute Gala honoring “The Model as Muse.” And while we already discussed the first round of designer/model pairings, here are a few more to hold you over until the red carpet event on Monday.
First of all, Donatella Versace will be flying in to spend the evening with Cindy Crawford, though she won’t be buying a table this year. Karl Lagerfeld will bring Edita Vilkeviciute as a part of the Chanel house, which is unsurprising, given their relationship. Helena Christensen will walk up the stairs with Zac Posen, and Lara Stone will hang out with cool kid Alexander Wang.
Obviously Hilary Rhoda and Elizabeth Hurley are sitting at the Estée Lauder table, given their campaigns. Hilary will be dressed in a custom-designed Thakoon dress, and Karolina Kurkova will walk the carpet with Richard Chai.
Tyra Banks has two dates in the form of Mark Badgley and James Mischka, and Bar Refaeli is playing the waiting game with her decision.
A few designers won’t be attending, but their guests will uphold their brands. Twiggy and Agyness Deyn will be dressed by Burberry, and Eva Herzigova will honor Dolce & Gabbana in their absence.
Sadly we’ll be missing Christy Turlington, a huge muse and icon of the industry. She’ll be there in spirit and images, at the very least.
