Modelinia won’t say we told you so, but, well, we told you so.
All of those ad campaigns that went to celebrities were totally not worth it in the end, according to Adweek. Only 8 percent of those polled said that actresses would sway their decision, while 12 percent said that they had a negative affect on their purchasing, and 78 percent said that the choice to use a celebrity didn’t affect them one way or the other.
Now okay, fair enough: Those who were polled weren’t asked about how models would change consumers opinions, but given the influx of models on covers, moving into film and television, “The Model as Muse” exhibit at the Met’s Costume Institute, and, of course, Modelinia, we tend to think models in ads would create a positive upswing in purchases. And whenever this recession ends, you can thank the models.
