Not long ago, Oxygen confirmed that they had secured the one and only Naomi Campbell as one of three big-time mentors on their upcoming model competition series, The Face. As the show is set to air in the coming months, the preparations are in full swing, meaning the search is on!
The new series announced that they will hold two open call auditions in New York and L.A. to cast their first season. The chosen contestants will compete for the chance to become the spokeswoman for a national brand- our guess was Maybelline- similar to the format of rival model Tyra Banks’s America’s Next Top Model series.
This isn’t your average ’smile and look pretty,” reality program though. The supermodel and her yet to be announced co-mentors are looking for a true top model who has more to offer than just her a cute face- no pun intended.
“I’m looking for contestants who have the whole package- a beautiful face; healthy, toned body, unique look; interesting personality; confidence; and, above all, strong work ethic and drive,” said Naomi in a recent press conference. “I’m seeking someone who possesses a global, worldly outlook, but can also be seen as a home-grown girl next door.”
Before you run-off to start practicing your fiercest catwalk strut, The Face strongly advises its hopeful contestants to pre-register online, and to fill out an application form- expect questions like “what models do you look up to and why?” “How will you respond to judges/mentors giving you constructive criticism?” “what is your biggest talent that is not related to modeling?”
“Most importantly,” Naomi added, “I’m looking for a model with a fearless spirit who can completely transform like a chameleon, and take you on a unique journey that makes you believe that even the impossible is possible.”
Think you have what it takes? Open auditions will be held July 21st in New York, and July 28th in L.A. For more information visit www.thefacecasting.com/open-calls.
