Tommy Hilfiger transformed the Park Avenue Armory into a New England park scene last night, complete with gravel, trees, benches, and a preppy collection full of equestrian jodhpurs and double breasted jackets. Before the show, we caught up with Shu Pei backstage to talk about the collection. “I really like it!” she told us. “I like what I’m wearing because my style is much more simple and [my outfit] feels like something I would wear.” The 21-year-old model who’s fast tracked to supermodel status in the last few years wore an a-line plaid mix dress down the brick-paved catwalk with knee-high burgundy boots and gloves to match. And speaking of supermodels, both Petra Nemcova and Elisa Sednaoui were seated on a front row park bench posing perfectly for the unimaginable amount of photographers that swarmed around them before the lights went down and the music turned up. Designer favorite Toni Garrn opened the show followed by Joan Smalls, Daria Strokous, Jourdan Dunn and Mirte Maas in a collection that was quintessentially American and the very reason why we’ll always be a fan of Tommy’s.
