It’s Couture Week! Prepare yourself for an onslaught of decadent dresses, corseted models, and over-the-top embellished makeup and hair. We’re in heaven already.
This morning editors found themselves at the Christian Dior show, and Grazia seemed to be just a little depressed with their seating assignment behind the massive bow on top of teeny Tavi Gevinson’s head. But even with an obstructed view of the brilliance, it’s hard to stay mad. John Galliano sent out his ladies in an equestrian feel, complete with riding crops, which turned into regal elegant gowns full of bows, draping, and underlying fabrics.
Siri Tollerød, Kasia Struss, Chanel Iman, Karlie Kloss, Frida Gustavsson, Jac (who’s also expected at Armani Privé?), Vlada Roslyakova, Morgane Dubled, Georgina Stojilkovic (fresh from Berlin Fashion Week), Maryna Linchuk, and Lindsay Ellingson joined the cast of girls to show off the designers creations, and ever one with a flair for dramatics, John dipped to one knee, kissing the hand of his darling Karlie.
Godfrey Deeny fell so in love with Chanel Iman’s look, he plum forgot that she’s actually American, and not British, as he wrote, “There was one sensational dress on Chanel Iman, a cocktail of lace and tulle flowers, which rendered the U.K. model so beautiful you could just count the hearts being broken.”
