Once the CFDA winners were announced and dinner ended, guests hopped in Town Cars and cabs to head to the Calvin Klein after-party on the High Line to toast the victors and the new space. A few raindrops fell early in the night, so everyone was handed special High Line-branded umbrellas…just in case.
And though it was June, the temperature mixed with the West Side breeze made goose bumps a natural accessory. Behati Prinsloo hung with her boyfriend, draping his jacket over her Yigal Azrouël dress, while most guests huddled in the front instead of taking a stroll along the massive boardwalk. “I was surprised that there was a tie in the menswear!” said Behati of the awards turnout. “Jimmy Fallon was announcing the winners and everyone thought it was a joke when he said it was a tie! We were like, Ha ha…oh!”
She wasn’t the only one who had the menswear winners on her mind, as Liya Kebede talked winners, too. “I learned about all these new menswear designers!” New threads for her husband, Kassy, maybe?
Under the blue lights, male models clad in CK dished out Moët & Chandon champers, along with red velvet cupcakes. Giedre Dukauskaite (in Stella McCartney) and Edita Vilkeviciute (in Calvin Klein) took in the sights together, while Edita admitted it was her first time at the redecorated High Line. “I saw it from the studio, but it’s my first time standing here. It’s so beautiful.” Giedre was one of the lucky girls to show off the designs outside of Alice Tully Hall, and said of the experience, “I didn’t get to see much because I was standing outside, but all the people looked amazing. Everyone was just gorgeous!”
A girl huddle began when Rachel Zoe, Rachel Roy, Mary Alice Stephenson, and Molly Sims found each other, most likely discussing the fashions of the night—especially Molly’s massive dress which required smart maneuvering in the crowd. Hilary Rhoda arrived with Mary Alice, who swooned at the purple confection the supermodel was wearing, which was fit directly on her. “They were just pinning it up, and it kept getting shorter and shorter!” said Hilary. “Italo [Zucchelli] won, so it was incredible to be in Calvin and I felt so special. I can’t bend over, but otherwise I’m good.”
The night was shared with a few other parties, as the Rodarte girls threw a celebration at the Jane with Alexander Wang and Avenue held an impromptu party, since their location was conveniently right below the High Line. Guests trickled in and out through the night to celebrate with Diane von Furstenberg, the High Line, as well as all of the new CFDA winners. Modelinia got the chance to hold Justin Giunta’s award—which is surprisingly heavy—and with that, called it a night.
