It’s Day 6 of Fashion Week and the models are still going strong! On Monday night, the runways’ usual gaggle of gorgeous ladies continued to brave the increasingly chaotic New York party scene, checking in at the night’s biggest bashes.
To start, the models joined Donna Karan in celebrating DKNY’s 25th birthday at the New York Stock Exchange with a star-studded fete not unlike the Grammy Awards. Hosted by British chart-topper and recent DKNY catwalker, Rita Ora, the buzz-worthy party set the Twitter-sphere on fire with performances by A$SAP Rocky, Iggy Azealia and the “R.I.P” singer herself. Having already walked the runways at both the DKNY and Donna Karen shows this week, it came as no surprise that supermodels Karlie Kloss and Joan Smalls were also on hand for the milestone fete, joining the likes of fashion darlings Emmy Rossum and Haliee Steinfeld on stage with the designer’s giant yellow taxi cab birthday cake!
Sports Illustrated models Chrissy Teigen (joined by fiance John Legend) and Julie Henderson were spotted roaming the crowd, while top models Heidi Mount, Jessica White, Chanel Iman and Guess model Gigi Hadid rounded out the list of notable model attendees.
Further Uptown, supermodel-turned-TV superstar Tyra Banks packed a full house at the opening of her latest photography project, “Tyra Banks Presents: 15,” currently on display at Jack Studios. The highly-anticipated exhibition includes a series of un-retouched, raw, black and white portraits that show the star transformed into her “colleagues, competitors and icons.” Posing as such legendary catwalkers as Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss and Iman, and new generation superstars Cara Delevingne, Karlie Kloss and Kate Upton, Tyra pays homage to the signature features of each fashion icon, while also posing as her younger 15-year old self.
The aim, according to photographer Udo Spreitzenbarth’s website, is to capture “the likeness of her colleagues to address the powerful nature of these well-known symbols, while reminding them that ‘imitation is the sincerely form of flattery.” The results are truly uncanny!
In addition to the dozens of Tyra-fans in attendance, top models Coco Rocha, Damaris Lewis and Sessilee Lopez also stopped by for the launch event, as did Karlie Kloss, who looked rather impressed by Tyra’s impersonation of her famous “feline eyes.” A supermodel impersonating supermodels… what could be better?!
