Last night, Cipriani 42nd Street played host to a dazzling crowd of philanthropic New Yorkers, all of whom gathered for a night of recognition and celebration held in honor of the 15th Annual New Yorkers for Children Fall Gala. Despite the fact that most of the fashion set was still in Paris, the annual star-studded affair managed to gather a several dozen VIPs— namely Girls‘ Jemima Kirke, designers Adam Lippes and Rachel Roy, and Victor Cruz— top fundraisers, and even a pack of gorgeous models that included Selita Ebanks, Lindsay Ellingson, and Elettra Wiedemann.
While some were stepping out as first-time supporters, all possessed an apparent interest in the children — some even a personal connection. ”I’m a product of the foster care system and that’s why this evening is so special to me,” said Selita, who chose a fringed Chloé dress for the occasion. ”There are nearly 13,000 youth in foster care in NYC today and tonight, I’m here to tell them that there situation does not have to define their future. Tonight is about showing these kids that they can chase their dreams and become successful— foster care is only a small chapter of their lives.”
