Cara Delevingne and Gisele Bundchen Lead Chanel’s Feminist Street Rally

Always one to tap into the cultural zeitgeist, Karl Lagerfeld drew inspiration from newspaper headlines this season as he transformed Chanel’s spring/summer ’15 show into a feminist demonstration of epic proportions.  With Chanel mega-phones and signs scribbled with phrases like, “Make Fashion Not War,” “Ladies First,” “Be Your Own Stylist” and “He For She,” Karl’s band of model protestors led  the march down “Boulevard Chanel,” closing the show on a political note.

Of course, that’s not to say that there weren’t plenty of fashion-related messages (eg. “Tweed is Better Than Tweet”) added into the mix.  According to Lagerfeld, the collection was about clothes for life, and thus, there was not a red carpet gown in sight.  Rather, the designer gave us 70s-inspired, pin- striped city shorts worn with white shirts with pretty scalloped collars, long heavy coats layered over contrasting prints, a series of suede two-pieces in dark green and soft pink and short, youthful gowns embroidered with enamelled flowers and what looked like haute brickwork.  Gisele Bündchen made a surprise appearance in a tan striped knit, while Kendall Jenner impressed in a piano-style leather-strip dress.

Cara Delevingne Got Rid of Her Famous Brows for Givenchy

If ever there was a poster child for big, bold, ‘look at me’ eyebrows, it is without a doubt Cara Delevingne.  After all, we’re talking about the model who single-handily caused Tweezer sales to drop with her gorgeous brow game.  So imagine our surprise when the certified Queen of Big Brows sauntered down the runway over the weekend with not so much as a single brow hair adorning her perfectly symmetrical face.

Don’t worry, her iconic brows aren’t gone for good.  The leggy blonde was actually just one of many top models— Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Natasha Poly, Mariacarla Boscono and Kendall Jenner included— who allowed makeup artist extraordinaire, Pat McGrath, to heavily bleach their brows for Riccardo Tisci’s spring/summer ’15 Givenchy show on Sunday.  In addition to the shocking brow transformation, the models were also given some killer cat eye flicks done in a soft brown to better compliment their flawless skin tones.  Of course, when you’re Cara Delevingne and big brows are your claim to fame, it’s going to be hard to notice anything else in the realm of eye makeup.

That being said, Cara and co. pulled off the bizarre beauty trend with aplomb.  As it turns out, bleached brows go surprisingly well with intricate lace and embroidery, flouncy ruffles and seductive over-the-knee leather boots.  Still if we had to choose, we’re still Team #CarasBrows all the way!
