Look of the Week: Jourdan Dunn’s High-Low Style

Blending designer with high street fashion is an art the models have perfected, and this week, no one did it better than Jourdan Dunn!

The British beauty proved she doesn’t need the help of a stylist (or a head-to-toe designer look for that matter), as she headed in for a guest appearance on Good Morning America in New York on Wednesday.  Dressed in a dark green sequin Topshop pencil skirt and a black Burberry cropped leather jacket, the catwalker had no trouble turning heads among the chaos of Times Square— and trust us, that’s saying something!

Continuing the high-low mix, she accessorized the ensemble with a pair of Isabel Marant black boots and a Saint Laurent shoulder bag featuring the iconic logo and chain tassel detail.  The look was the perfect balance between high and low, formal and casual, modern and classic, and more importantly, today’s Look of the Week win!

If you haven’t already, check out Jourdan’s delicious Life + Times cooking series, “Well Dun With Jourdan Dunn,” on YouTube, and shop the model’s dazzling high-low style below!

Happy Birthday Twitter! Celebrate With the Models’ First Tweets

Can you believe Twitter has been in our lives for EIGHT years now?  Well, believe it or not, the world’s first tweet was sent out on March 21, 2006 by company founder Jack Dorsey.  Fast forward eight years and those 140-character bursts of simple text have translated into billions of social media users worldwide, as well as an incomprehensible number of tweets, links, pics and, well,  you get the picture.

In honor of its milestone birthday today, Twitter has set up an amazing new tool for us tweeters to go back in time and revisit our very first tweets— and not just ours, but everyone else’s too!  Naturally, we used Discover.twitter.com to look back at the models’ very first tweets to see just how far they’ve come over the years.  From today’s social media supers like Cara Delevingne, Chrissy Teigen and Miranda Kerr, to industry vets like Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford, scroll through the list of the top models’ first tweets below for an epic (and very funny) blast from the past!

Kate Upton Teams Up With Bobbi Brown in Her First Cosmetics Campaign

Kate Upton is adding another high-profile partnership to her already impressive resume, and this time it has nothing to do with her famous bikini body.

Joining famed makeup artist Bobbi Brown on Good Morning America this morning, Kate announced her first campaign as the new face of the brand, making her the first model to appear in its stunning adverts.  Speaking to GMA host Robin Roberts, Brown explained that Kate was an obvious choice, calling the Sports Illustrated cover girl “incredible” and a “strong woman.”

Shortly after the announcement, the cosmetics giant unveiled its first campaign image with Kate on Twitter writing: “Excited to work w @KateUpton as new face of @BobbiBrown. She’s beautiful, confident & creates her own rules.”

More than just another campaign, the Bobbi Brown partnership marks a milestone of sorts for the 21-year-old supermodel, as cosmetic campaigns are generally among the most coveted and hard to come by in the industry.  A look through the archives will show that the world’s most successful models all held major beauty contracts at one point or another— Christy Turlington for L’Oreal Paris, Daria Werbowy for Lancome, Kate Moss for Rimmel— placing Kate in very beautiful company.

In a coinciding interview with Vogue magazine, model-turned-actress discussed her love of Brown’s products and personal history with the brand.  ”I love the Smokey Eye Mascara! I’m a little bit more of a smoky-eye girl than a lip girl. It doesn’t clump, and it gives you just enough of that sexy appeal. And also, like I said, I love their bronzer. Being from Florida, that helps me feel a little healthier!”

“You know, what’s cool about Bobbi is that a lot of campaigns make you feel like the makeup is everything, but she really emphasizes that it’s about you and your personal beauty, so it feels like a good fit,” she adds.

Kate’s first ads will appear in the coveted September issues of fashion magazines worldwide – watch this space!

New Ways to Wear Your Favorite Spring Scarf

There are a number of easy styling tricks to help transition your wardrobe into spring, but nothing beats a big, bright scarf!  With the ability to be worn with both your ski jacket and your crop top, the scarf really is the most versatile accessory known to man, and one that can be worn in an infinite number of ways!

This season, we’re loving Theodora and Callum‘s idea of transitioning an oversized tribal print scarf into a cross-over halter top (as modeled by Dominique Piek above)— perfect as a beach coverup, or paired with your favorite maxi skirt.  If it’s the heat and impending humidity that has you worried, take a cue from the Armani Prive spring couture show, and try a silky, wrap-around headscarf to help conceal a less than favorable hair day.  If you’re not one for hair embellishments, take your cue from the Marc by Marc Jacobs and Creatures of the Wind shows, where the models’s hair was tucked under a simple silk necktie— a trend we except to see much more in the coming months.  Of course, we can’t deny the never-ending appeal of a classic printed scarf to dress up your off-duty jeans and tee combo.  Kudos to Gisele Bündchen for kicking the season off on a stylish note! Remember, most of these styles are best achieved with silk and/or cotton scarves, so feel free to save your wool and cashmere versions for winter.
