Be Prepared for a Major Model Overhaul at the Newsstands This Month!

When Vogue put three supermodels on the cover of its September issue, the  fashion industry hailed it as the “return of the supermodel.”  We however, were a bit skeptical.  After all, this wasn’t the first time a major American magazine tapped a model for its all-important September cover, only to spend the next several months shooting TV and film stars.  After a quick look at this month’s featured cover girls though, we may need to reconsider our position.

Shop the Look: Adriana Lima’s Fashion Week Street Style

We’ve always kind of envisioned fashion week as a battle ground of sorts— the pushing and shoving between photographers, the maneuvering of tight, overcrowded spaces, the overall lack of sleep and energy.  So perhaps that’s why we were so immediately drawn to Adriana Lima‘s street-style look at the Marc Jacobs spring 2015 show last week.  Prior to slipping into her shaggy black wig, the supermodel displayed her prowess for off-duty style, stepping out in a look that you might call “style war–ready.”  A onetime menswear favorite, camouflage print is quickly becoming part of a woman’s everyday uniform — the non-girly girl’s answer to lush floral prints.  Here, Adriana gives her simple black shirt dress a edgy lift by layering it with an oversized camouflage print jacket, a mini utilitarian satchel and studded sandals—the perfect mix of sportiness and ladylike poise. This weekend, take on the urban jungle in similar pieces hand-picked by our editors directly from our new favorite shopping app, Spring. Check then out in the slideshow below:

Gemma Ward Returns to the Runway After an 8 Year Hiatus

Marking one of the biggest highlights of the fashion season thus far, supermodel Gemma Ward returned to the catwalk—opening Prada’s Spring 2015 show today—after an 8-year hiatus.  The Australian model, who once worked with every top designer from Karl Lagerfeld to Valentino and Calvin Klein, famously bid adieu to modeling in 2006 to focus on her acting career, which included minor roles in “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” and “The Great Gatsby.”  In 2013, Gemma signed with IMG Models Australia making many people wonder if she was planning a comeback — a rumor that we now suspect may have added weight.

As if Gemma’s return wasn’t treat enough, Miuccia also brought back Dutch supermodel Lara Stone to close today’s show— her first in nearly three years— following a lineup that include such fashion week regulars as Julia Nobis, Ondria Harden and Lexi Boling.

Not only does Gemma and Lara’s appearance solidify the fact that models are making their return to the spotlight (look no further than Vogue’s September cover or the major models who walked in other SS15 shows, like Abbey Lee Kershaw, Kristen Owen, or Maggie Rizer for proof), but it also gives us hope that the trend of casting celebrities and “It” girls as the face of major fashion brands has finally reached its end.  Seriously, Hollywood scions are great and all, but can we really compare them to pros like Gemma and Lara?  We think not.

Kendall Jenner Makes Her Milan Fashion Week Debut Alongside Cara Delevingne

Kendall Jenner may have skipped London Fashion Week this season, but that doesn’t mean her Fashion Month is over.

After hinting at another possible runway appearance earlier this week, the American model made her official Milan Fashion Week debut walking in Fendi’s spring/summer 2015 show.  Tapped by Karl Lagerfeld himself, Kendall took to the catwalk this morning in a pair of brown suede harem-style pants, an abstract print top featuring tiny rips throughout, and a patent leather tote complete with the brand’s famed fox fur clip-on keychain.

Rag & Bone Launches Its Biggest DIY Model Campaign Yet!

Since Rag & Bone unveiled its first series of DIY ad campaigns in Spring 2011, the British heritage label has snagged a rather impressive list of famous model faces to front its laid-back threads, most notably among them: Miranda KerrCandice SwanepoelLily Aldridge and Jourdan Dunn.  Now, for its Fall ’14 campaign series, the New York-based label is going where its never gone before— enlisting not one, but six “It” girls to jump in front of the camera, thus marking it its biggest DIY campaign to date!

Armed with nothing but a digital camera, a bag full of low-key separates and free reign to style and shoot as they please, models Cameron Russell, Angela Lindvall, Kirsten Owen, Malgosia Bela, Olympia Campbell (Edie’s younger sister) and British Vogue‘s Laura Bailey, put their own personal spin on the DIY series.  In Cameron’s case, that meant rounding up a few “space-made collaborators” from her favorite place, the internet (a first for the brand), to help model the clothes outside her studio in downtown Brooklyn.  More than just a few striking #nomakeup selfies, the model/magazine publisher’s photos include inspirational hand-drawn signs featuring such phrases “Humanist,” “Different” and “Don’t Call Me Mami.”

Here’s How You Can Get Jourdan Dunn’s Supermodel Tee on the Cheap!

When Naomi Campbell and Cara Delevingne posted a photo of a shirt emblazoned with the names “Naomi, Kate, Cara Jourdan” across the front to Instagram on Monday, we found ourselves asking the exact same question as the British supers: Where can we get our hands on this awesome tee?!

Well, lo and behold, it didn’t take long to find out as last night Jourdan Dunn attended the launch of the Harrods Shoe Heaven wearing the exact tee Naomi, Cara and ourselves were swooning over not 48-hours earlier.

Style Watch: Kate Moss is Python Perfection on Gucci’s Front Row

Earlier today, Kate Moss jetted from London to Milan to take her seat in the front row at Gucci’s spring/summer ’15 show, where her style was (as always) something to be seen.  The supermodel, who currently appears in the Italian house’s campaign for its new Jackie soft bag, kept things streamlined this morning in neutral shades of black and grey, but scored extra style points in one of the brand’s python dusters.  The coat hit just below her LBD, hinting at Old School Italian elegance, while her chunky black platform sandals and sleek grey envelope clutch recalled classic Sixities sophistication.  Molto bene, indeed!

The British super had the honor of sitting alongside Anna Wintour and Charlotte Casiraghi, marking her second fashion week appearance of the season. Earlier this week Kate joined her latest campaign co-star Cara Delevingne in the front row at Burberry’s runway show, only to throw the party of the season with AnOther magazine later that night.  Is it just us, or is fashion week so much more fun when Kate Moss is around?
