While the New York runways were rife with hair inspiration for the new season, they weren’t the only place inciting beauty trends this week. Prior to turning heads at Ralph Lauren’s Polo 4D spectacular, we caught up with model and wife to Ralph Lauren model Nacho Figueras, Delfina Blaquier, whose new cut tresses are everything we’re looking for this season. Like us, the model admits she was looking for something polished, but still completely effortless heading into fashion week, and thus turned her hair over to the professionals at the Fredric Fekkai Salon for a pre-event touch up. Curious (read: desperate) to learn more about her gorgeous new cut and color, we tracked Delfina’s personal colorist, Jennifer Albert, and stylist Julie Dbjay for their tips on how to recreate the look at home and what to ask for at our next salon visit. See the experts’s tips below! Read the rest of this entry »
We hate to admit it, but New York Fashion Week is sadly coming to a close. Just because it’s ending, however, doesn’t mean that the models are going out with a bang – just check their social media accounts! From Jessica Stam giving back and volunteering at Cantor Fitzgerald’s Charity Day to Kendall Jenner sharing a picture from Russell James’ VS book launch, see how some of your favorite models are ending fashion week in today’s #NYFW Twitpics Day 8!
Transforming the Stephan Weiss Studio into something of a runway show, longtime Victoria’s Secret photographer Russell James celebrated the launch of his latest book and exhibition, Angels, in the West Village on Wednesday night. The tome captures runway veterans such as Gisele Bündchen and Miranda Kerr, and up-and-comers like Kendall Jenner and Martha Hunt posing nude— tastefully of course — in exotic locations. ”It was so easy and natural,” said Lily Aldridge of the collaboration. ”Russell is one of my best friends, I love him and we shoot together all the time, so it was a very organic process. We would shoot bits here and there between the Victoria’s Secret shoots and got to do it with all of our friends, which made it very special. I think it turned out beautifully!”
As partygoers enjoyed champagne and a sneak peek at the new models’s new portraits, guests including Donna Karan, Hugh Jackman, Ben Stiller, and Richard Branson trickled in to join the festivities. Throughout the night, more of James’s subjects arrived to honor his work, including Adriana Lima, Karolina Kurkova, Candice Swanepoel and Martha Hunt.
Meanwhile, at the Diamond Horseshoe, Us Weekly kicked off its annual fashion week fete honoring the Most Stylist New Yorkers of 2014. Among this year’s honorees were Jamie Chung, Today Show host Matt Lauer, blogger Emily Weiss, as well Victoria’s Secret’s own Adriana Lima and Lily Aldridge, who managed to pop by the event before heading to James’s celebration.
Finally, to celebration its recent NASDAQ listing and the culmination of New York Fashion Week, Wilhelmina Models gathered its beautiful clientele for an exclusive after party at New York’s Location 05. Among the models in attendance were Coco Rocha, Robyn Lawley, Soo Joo, Cindy Bruna, and newcomer Ella Richards, whose sister Alexandra, also served as DJ for the night. The celebratory event included a live performance by Nick Jonas, along with set by Randy Jackson’s latest discovery, North of Nine.

Reed Krakoff embraced artisanal details for his Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear collection. A pencil skirt was made from laser-cut leather bonded to tweed; T-shirts featured panels of fabric woven like a checkerboard and deep raffia trim at the hem; a tank dress was hand-macramed. It appears that gone are the days when Krakoff would tout a “warm minimalism” when describing his collections, however the same words can be used to describe the makeup look for his show!
