A Model Welcome to 25

It’s all about anniversaries these days.

While Vogue Paris is honoring Lara Stone by placing her on the cover of their 90th anniversary issue, Elle UK decided to celebrate their 25th anniversary with not only a newsstand issue, but also four different limited edition covers!

And what’s more exciting is the fact that three of those four are model focused, featuring Helena ChristensenCoco Rocha, and Naomi Campbell! While Helena and Naomi get the black and white artsy treatment, Coco’s cover takes on a flame inspired hue, undoubtedly drawing inspiration from the theme of the inside editorial. John Galliano rounds out the group, mixing muses with designers in an ideal way.

You won’t find these special covers on newsstands, so make sure to order your limited edition copy, ASAP.

Lounge in Iman’s Luxury

Every season, a different designer puts their creative spin on the VIP Mercedes-Benz Star Lounge at the tents, providing a fashionable location for celebs and designers to hang out between shows. While previous seasons have seen aesthetics from a variety of interior decorators, this year the lounge is being infused with a model’s touch!

During September, Iman will launch her latest project, a line of home fabrics with P/K Lifestyles, but she’s giving fashion insiders a preview of her creation, and working with design consultant Carlos Mota to decorate the lounge at Lincoln Center! “The gods of the interior decoration must have been looking down on me, because all of a sudden, here was this great opportunity to create the Mercedes-Benz Star Lounge,” said Iman.

The very first day of Fashion Week will welcome editors, writers, VIPs, and designers to not only a brand new home in Lincoln Center, but also a lounge full of Iman’s personal furniture, African stools, and images from photographers including Bruce Weber and Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, paired with Iman’s new fabrics line. “It’s probably going to be the new place to find me,” she said. “At least until fashion week is up.” Us too.

Stomping for a Cause

Despite the sweltering temperatures in New York City today, forty top models including Coco RochaJessica White, Michelle Alves, Hannah Holman, and Lyndsey Scott took over the Meatpacking District for a photoshoot with Nigel Barker to kick off Nine West’s Runway Relief program. Dressed in personally styled t-shirts, jean shorts, and the Nine West boots, the girls forgot about the heat and focused on the amazing cause that brought them all together.

“We wanted to capture the energy of Fashion Week and turn it into a meaningful way to give back,” explained Stacy Lastrina, CMO of Jones Apparel Group. “This Fashion Week it is all about the models strutting their stuff and walking the extra mile for a great cause in the Nine West boot.”

As the leader of the pack, Coco showed off her professionalism and dedication to the charity, shrugging off the ever increasing heat index and her fall inspired outfit for the afternoon saying, “That’s what we do - we wear leather coats in the heat!”

While Coco’s already admitted to her competitive nature regarding the charitable initiative, she’s not the only model who’s dedicated to the cause. Between family members who have been affected by breast cancer and the desire to help a worthy cause, a brilliant selection of models plan to donate their time and stomping power to the Runway Relief program from now through Fashion Week.  For every mile of steps accumulated  by the models, Nine West will make a monetary donation to Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.

In case you missed Modelinia’s Livestream of the photoshoot this afternoon or couldn’t make it to the Meatpacking District, you can still catch the whole thing on our Facebook page!

Lara Rings In 90 Years of Vogue Paris Brilliance

It’s no secret that Carine Roitfeld is a huge fan of Lara Stone. The top model has appeared on the cover and pages of the Vogue Paris countless times, and was even honored by the magazine when they dedicated the entire February 2009 issue to her.

But she’s about to receive another major coup when it comes to the Parisian glossy. As a celebration of the magazine’s 90th anniversary, Lara’s gracing the cover of the monumental issue! Here’s to hoping Lara will appear on the inside pages as well.

In an effort to celebrate not only the past but also the present, Carine and her staff have reminisced in order to look forward. “Vogue Paris has always played the card of audacity,” said Carine. “We couldn’t do a lukewarm issue.”

The magazine’s set to boast 622 pages, featuring editorials from Mario Sorrenti, David Sims, Terry Richardson, Steven Klein, Hedi Slimane, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot, Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, as well as a shot of Inès de la Fressange’s 11 year old daughter. New model in the making?
