Runway to Red Carpet: Looks From the 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards

Last night Hollywood’s biggest TV stars gathered at the Nokia Theatre in L.A. for the 66th annual Primetime Emmy Awards hosted by Seth Meyers.  Though not quite as glamourous as the Oscars, or as outlandish as the VMAs, the Emmys still had their fair share of noteworthy red carpet looks ranging from stunning haute couture creations, to the most coveted Resort 2015 pieces.  Needless to say, Hollywood’s small screen stars gave us a lot to consider style wise last night and today we’re reviewing the best of the best with a look at the origins of some of last night’s most talked-about red carpet looks.  From Claire Danes’ fiery Givenchy show-stopper, to Kate Mara’s dazzling J.Mendel gown, see which models first rocked your favorite Emmy looks on the runway in the slideshow below!

It’s Official: Kendall Jenner Has Made Her Vogue Magazine Debut

She may not have gotten the cover of Vogue‘s glorious supermodel-packed September issue, but Kendall Jenner did earn herself a place inside the magazine’s glossy pages

Following reports of a Demarchelier-lensed spread earlier this summer, photo evidence of the Kendall’s long-awaited Vogue debut hit the web today (thanks Fashionista!), marking a milestone of sorts for the up-and-coming model. With no mention of her famous family, her reality TV past, or her own name for that matter, the feature puts the spotlight solely on Kendall as a professional model, a role she appears to have adapted to seamlessly.

Styled by Tabitha Simmons and photographed by Patrick Demarchelier, Kendall appears deep in the magazine —656 pages deep, to be exact— in a front-of-book editorial about how to style a scarf.  Short though it may be, the fashion shoot makes use of some big-name designers, including Alexander Wang, Hermes, and Marc by Marc Jacobs, and also features such other rising models as Sarah Greene and Anna Ewers.

The Vogue credit comes hot on the heels of what has already been a blockbuster month for the 18-year-old, who landed her first solo September cover for Teen Vogue, shot her first big campaign for Givenchy, and most recently, turned heads at the VMAs with her flawless red carpet style.  Like it or not, Kendall’s star continues to rise.  The only question now is: which designer will she open for this fashion week?

Beauty Trend Watch: Pin-Straight Strands Make a Comeback at the VMAs – Are You on Board?

When it comes to red carpet hair, glossy, retro-inspired waves and artfully mussed updos tend to steal the show, but as of Sunday night, that seems to no longer be the case. Or at least it wasn’t at MTV’s annual Video Music Awards, where sleek, pin-straight strands reigned supreme on the heads of celebrities and models alike.

Like a blast from the past, today’s top catwalkers stepped out in one uber-straight look after the next, with each one putting their own signature variation on what we’ve now deemed to be an official trend.  For Kendall Jenner, that meant parting her hair straight down the middle and leaving one half tucked neatly behind her ear— a look that came off cool and sophisticated when paired with a streamlined all-black ensemble and minimal makeup.

In another take on the flat iron trend, as well as perhaps our favorite of the bunch, Jourdan Dunn sported not only some of the straightest strands we’ve seen since Avril Levine’s heyday, but also a new, freshly cut angled bob by hairstylist Renda Attia.  The supermodel flaunted a flawless pin-straight version featuring a deep, sexy side part that had considering a serious chop session of our own following the red carpet show.  Similarly, Chanel Iman looked down right seductive pairing a slightly choppier version with her bondage-inspired Balmain number.

Could it be time to dust off our flat irons once again?  If these models are any indication, then all signs are pointing to yes!

Behati, Kendall and the Yonce Girls Turn Out for the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards

Pop stars and hip-hop heavyweights may have been the focus of last night’s MTV Video Music Awards, but you better believe that they weren’t the only A-listers tearing up the red carpet!  Although, out numbered by the gaggle of musical talents in attendance, models Behati PrinslooJoan SmallsJourdan DunnChanel Iman and Kendall Jenner held their own on the red carpet on Sunday night, rounding out one of the best model turnouts in the show’s history.

Forever a fan of Olivier Rousteing, Joan chose an attention-grabbing Balmain resort 2014 mini-dress featuring a dramatic draped neckline, while Chanel opted for an ultra-tight black leather bondage dress paired with oversized black hoop earrings and strappy Casadei peep-toe heels.  While also dressed in Balmain for the occasion, Jourdan opted for a slightly more minimal look than her music video counterparts, stepping out in a sleek black bra top teamed with a matching floor-length skirt and a gorgeous new bob cut (don’t worry, more on that to come)!

Cara Delevingne Reigns Supreme at Vogue!

Scoring one of the coveted September covers is a feat in and of itself, as it’s not only the thickest fashion issue, but also the biggest-selling issue of the year!  So, the fact that Cara Delevingne has been able to land not one, but three Vogue covers this month, proves that this British beauty is officially in a league of her own!

Just one week after it was announced that the 22-year-old supermodel was among the lucky 3 top models to be chosen for American Vogue’s spectacular #InstaGirls cover and previously, the cover of British Vogue, the publication’s Japan edition has gone ahead and revealed its latest cover with the super, rounding out a record-breaking three September slots for Cara! Best of all, while some publications have gotten into the habit of passing off old covers as new editions, Vogue has cast Cara in three distinctly different roles that run the gambit from polished and feminine (Japan) to Sixties-inspired (UK).  Of course, our favorite is hands down our own version shot by Mario Testino, which sees a sparkly dressed Cara sandwiched between the gorgeous likes of Joan Smalls and Karlie Kloss, but that’s just us.

Regardless, it’s clear that Cara is at the top of her game this year, and with fashion week still ahead of her, it’s safe to say that this won’t be the last you see of the model’s cover work this year!
