Beauty Look: Cornrows and Blue Liner at Marchesa Fall 2014

New York Fashion Week is always the definitive beauty voice of the season and it has started off and now ended with a major bang! In honor of one of our favorite designers, Marchesa, we’re breaking down the sexy, yet minimalist look that our models rocked during the show. We know know this isn’t the first beauty look at Fashion Week, but consider it the first of many beauty trends (a soft and sweet) that are here to stay! Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman, focused on a floating blue and green floating liner with a simple lip and luminous skin to compliment the Marchesa Fall/Winter ’14 collection. “I wanted the models to have really youthful, beautiful illuminating skin and rosy cheeks like a Scottish country girl mixed with a maharaja princess, “ says Westman. “I like the depth and sexiness of darker colors, but I still wanted the eccentric and fun pop of color, so for the eyes we layered either a dark blue or green liner [depending on eye color], in the socket. I used a crème gel liner then a liquid liner to accentuate the eye and create an abstract crispness and simply enhanced the models natural lip color to keep the focus on the eyes.” To recreate the nail look worn by the models, celebrity manicurist Jin Soon Choi suggests keeping the nails short and creating a rounded square shape. Party Pics: Anja, Lindsey and Hanne Celebrate With The Last Supper

As the New York show season comes to a close, fashion A-listers celebrated their last hoorays on Wednesday night, despite the impending winter storm.  At the famous fashion week stomping ground Indochine, Anja Rubik, Tao Okamoto, Lindsey Wixson, Hanne Gaby Odiele and Jacquelyn Jablonski gathered for a dinner and private party hosted by eBay and The Last Magazine.  Designers Phillip Lim, Richard Chai and Prabal Gurung joined the revelers in toasting to the magazine’s twelfth issue, featuring cover girl Daria Werbowy, before joining their model muses in some between-table dancing.

Nearby, the Blonds and MAC Cosmetics were hosting an after-party at Gilded Lily, which drew a colorful mix of party-goers, not the least of which was Lil’ Kim.  Dressed in a skin-tight dress that showed off her new baby bump, the rapper  took to the stage to perform several throwback hits, including “Lighters Up,” while Jeremy Scott held court at Up&Down, the site of his post-show bash.

If Winter Storm Pax was any sort of burden on the Day 7 crew, it certainly didn’t show.

NYFW Day 8 Street Style Ends with a Bang!

It is the last day of #NYFW, which means the end of our Fashion Week street style posts— so sad, we know, but for our final post we bring you two jaw-dropping beauties to end with a fashion bang! Karmen Pedaru displays a Rock-N-Roll look in a high-waisted black pants, white-tee, and a tousled hair look. She tops off her look with an oversized green faux-fur cropped jacket–can you say chic? Ajak Deng dons a layered look with a dark-camel colored coat, nude sweater and a black wrap around scarf. Adding a touch of drama to the street style look, green/blue suede Christian Louboutin booties and her infectious smile. Every fashionista loves a good accessory, especially our model friends. Over the course of the past few weeks we have seen unique, individual style on all of our model friends. Whether they’re wearing clutches, cross-body bags, hats, clunky jewelry, baggy clothes or layered items, the ultimate street style accessory among these stylish ladies? Their cell phones! And we dig it. Read the rest of this entry »

Shhh! Cara Delevingne Has a Surprise for You!

As much as we’ve loved New York Fashion Week, we cant help noticing that there has been a big Cara Delevingne shaped hole missing from the runway this season.  Sadly the model has yet to make an appearance in the Big Apple, but don’t worry, she’s got something special in store for us all come London Fashion Week!

According to WWD, Cara is “working with” Mulberry on a “creative project” that will be  unveiled in full at a photo call during London Fashion Week before a dinner at Claridge’s on Sunday, Feb. 16.  The secret project is all very hush hush at the moment as the brand’s only hint at what’s to come is this short teaser video that shows the 21-year-old wandering through Paddington Station as clips of cloudy skies, sketchbooks and Mulberry goods flicker throughout. “See you Sunday!” is all that Cara offers, leaving our minds to wander with the possibilities.

Seeing as how the photocall is being held in place of a runway show this season — and one that Cara would have most definitely opened and/or closed— we’d bet that Mulberry has something BIG in store for its fans this weekend.  #SEEYOUSUNDAY— you bet!

NYFW Day 8 Street Style: Last Looks at Karlie Kloss, Martha Hunt & Anais Mali

We’re wrapping up Fall ’14 NYFW with street style looks from Karlie Kloss, Martha Hunt and Anais Mali. Street style photographer extraordinaire, Piere from ModelsJam caught Karlie Kloss hurrying off to walk in another show, while looking effortless sexy. To offset her casual look, she paired her black jeans and ankle booties with a flare of sophistication with a navy/beige shearling jacket and a Michael Kors purse. Martha opted for an oversized jacket, low-rise boyfriend jeans and Nike sneakers and add a maroon Celine handbag for a hint of coolness. Although the snow keeps falling, Anais Mali heats things up with her head-to-toe black look, adding a white bomber jacket decorated with bright blue flowers across. We always love a good beanie, purse and jacket. We know our final street style pick, what’s yours?

Be sure not to miss our last street style post later today- it’s one you won’t want to miss! Read the rest of this entry »
