As if the Cannes Film Festival could get any more glamorous, Thursday’s annual Cinema Against AIDS amfAR Gala brought the week-long red carpet affair to a close with more swoon-worthy gowns and gorgeous top models than we could count!
Before the show even started, the models were already turning heads outside the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, where they flaunted their latest high-fashion ensembles for the crowd. Alessandra Ambrosio put the “bomb” in bombshell in her white cut-out Roberto Cavalli gown, while Irina Shayk sparkled in pale pink Atelier Versace dress, which was draped over a sequin mini, revealing a perfectly tanned and toned leg. Heidi Klum also opted for a bit of Versace tonight, dazzling in a beaded pastel blue number and Bulgari jewels. That shade of blue was a popular one among the models tonight, with both Jessica Hart and Liu Wen stepping out in beautiful, flowy gowns of the same color.
L’Oreal Paris’ team of supermodel brand ambassadors including Lara Stone, Karlie Kloss, Barbara Palvin and Bianca Balti were also in attendance this evening. New mom Lara Stone flaunted her fabulous figure in a cropped bodice and full skirt featuring bronze studded details and embellishments. Meanwhile, Karlie opted for a beaded ’20s-inspred navy Chanel dress and silver flats, while Barbara Palvin gave a peek at her runway-ready physique in a sheer floor-length black gown.
Following the models’ sparkling walk down the runway, the beauties joined their fellow A-listers, including Leonardo DiCaprio— the actor turned up to support both the cause and his girlfriend Toni Garrn, who he shared a rare moment of PDA with out on the dance floor— Sharon Stone, Justin Beiber and Marion Cotillard, for the traditional full-course dinner and silent auction, the proceeds from which benefit AIDS research. The auction got off to an impressive start, with Carine’s entire one-of-a-kind red fashion collection going for $3.5 million. As the bids kept coming in, guests saw one lucky bidder pay $15 million for a gold-plated woolly mammoth skeleton by Damien Hirst, while enjoying a memorable performance Lana Del Ray. By the end of the event, the Cannes A-listers were able to raise a record-breaking $35 million for AIDS research— an incredible feat to say the least!
