Step Up Your Shoe-Game with These Spring Platforms!

Over the last few years in fashion, we have seen the rise of the classic pointy-toe pump-unfortunately at the demise of the platform. Platform shoes, despite their ability to even the playing field for our feet, have been relegated to the “this trend is so over” lists of many editors. But the platform shoe is back, and this season it’s better than ever. A two inch platform accompanied by a six inch stiletto is not the type of shoe we are talking about here either. With these stylish steppers, the flatter the foot, the better. We might even venture to call them flat-forms. These stompers give you all of the height your heart desires, without the severe ankle straining we’ve come to expect from high heels. These are the shoes you’ll want to be running around in when the sun is shining. Pair them with a floral frock or some cropped trousers, and you will be set for spring, and standing tall!

And Now, the Beginners Guide to Modeling by Cara Delevingne!

Good thing backpacks and high tops are en vogue this season, because Cara Delevingne is about to school us all in fashion posing 101!

The 20-year-old  catwalker may still be relatively new to the top model class — an underclassman so to speak— but that hasn’t stopped her from releasing her own beginners guide to modeling in the latest issue of i-D magazine.  With such hits as ‘The Fanny Pack,’ a raunchy, tongue-in-cheek take on posing with accessories, to the down right comical ‘The Sexy Cockroach’ and ‘Got Wind,’ Cara reveals the secrets behind her meteoric rise to fashion stardom, earning her an A+ in our books for sure!

The cheat sheet comes by way of the latest edition of i-D, ‘the Q + A issue,’ which hits newsstands tomorrow.  We’ve already caught a glimpse of fellow cover girl Lara Stone and her booze-infused spread, and looking at Cara’s teaser, it appears the British beauty will be caught posing in a fishbowl and futuristic-looking garments in her featured editorial.  And if that weren’t enough to get you out of bed bright and early tomorrow morning to pick up your copy of the  glossy, Cara’s latest video obsession ought to do the trick!  shot by photographer Tyrone Lebon, Cara’s earning some extra credit points with a rather racy strip tease performance we of course, have on repeat at this very moment!

So grab your pencils and get ready to take some notes, because class is in session!

Carla Bruni Returns to the World of Modeling With a Haute Joaillerie Campaign!

Proving that age really is just a number, ex-catwalker and former First Lady of France,  Carla Bruni Sarkozy, is returning to the modeling world as the new face of Bulgari’s haute joaillerie campaign!

The 45-year-old ex-supermodel has reportedly shot her ‘comeback campaign’ in Rome this week with photographer-of-the-moment Terry Richardson, placing her among the ranks of previous brand ambassadors Julianne Moore, Rachel Weisz and Isabella Rossellini.  Few other details have been released as of yet, but if the rumors are true, we can expect to see Carla’s lovely bijioux work when the campaign hits in the second half of this year.

Since leaving the Elysee Palace last year, Carla has slowly been making her way back into the fashion limelight, guest-editing a spectacular model-infused issue of Paris Vogue, re-launching her renowned music career and posing for the cover of French Elle.  Of course, none of those accolades hold a candle to Carla’s inspiring heyday, during which the Italian-born beauty rose the ranks of the modeling world by walking the runway for Chanel, Yves Saint Lauren, Givenchy and Christian Dior among many others.  By the mid-1990s, Carla had become one of the 20 highest paid catwalkers in the biz, not to mention one of the most stylish First Ladies in France’s history.

And if today’s gaggle of hard working supers best-represented by the likes of Kate Moss, Naomi CampbellCindy Crawford and Stephanie Seymour, are any indication of the road that lies ahead for Carla, it’s safe to say that Bulgari will be the first of many fashionable stops for the returning supermodel!

Nicole Trunfio Releases Her Debut Single With Band Henry Blak!

Top model, jewelry designer and all around cool girl, Nicole Trunfio, is now adding rock star to her list of talents as the Aussie has just released her debut single as the lead singer of indie-rock band, Henry Blak!

Landing just in time for her 27th birthday celebration this past weekend (Happy Birthday, Nicole!), the newly-released track entitled ‘Kill Me,’ is the first song off the band’s debut self-titled EP set to drop on April 4th, which will also include the premiere of the brand’s first music video!

“Music had been a huge influence in my life, to be a part of the collaborative process is a dream come true,” said Nicole. “Out first single “kill me” was the first song I have ever written and the first song we are releasing, there is something nostalgic about it for me. Maybe it’s my dad, maybe it’s that connection, whatever it is, it’s a lot of fun.”

Now, we know what you’re thinking — of course, she has the sultry beauty, daring red carpet style and enviable love life of a certified chart-topper, but does she have the talent?  Well, let us be the first to tell you the answer is YES! Like her own version of Alison Mosshart and Karen O., Nicole boasts a soulful, slightly gritty set of pipes that have been praised by fashion’s finest, most of whom have been on Nicole’s rock star band wagon since the model unofficially formed the group following a standout performance at Milk Studios during Fashion Week 2011.

Since that early performance consisting of just two songs performed with producer/actor Carlos Velazquez, Nicole has gone to work writing and recording music in between her regular modeling-turned- jewelry designer ventures, helping to produce what is now a mature five-piece electronic/indie rock set.  Complete with dreamy guitar riffs provided by Eric Parisi and pulsating beats compliments of lead drummer Loren Humphrey, Henry Blak debuts as an eclectic, rock-steady mix of psychedelic breakdowns, electronic undertones and of course, beautiful vocal melodies.

But don’t take our word for it!  Listen here for Henry Blak’s debut single ‘Kill Me,’ also available on iTunes!
