Runway to Red Carpet: Fashion at the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards

On Sunday night, Hollywood’s biggest and brightest stars gathered at The Beverly Hilton Hotel for the 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards, and this year, it was all about the glitz and glam— for actresses and models alike!

Though outnumbered by the gaggle of sparkly screen sirens and dapper men in attendance, there was still plenty of model-watching to be had on the red carpet.  Among the first to arrive was powerhouse couple Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, who was nominated (with rapper Common) and later won for Best Original Song for his single “Glory” in the new Martin Luther King Jr. biopic, Selma.  The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover girl was a model wife stepping out in a jaw-dropping pastel pink Zuhair Murad gown paired with a Tyler Alexandra clutch, Casadei shoes, and jewelry by Harry Kotlar and Suzanne Kalan. Unfortunately, the world had all but forgotten about Chrissy’s winning look the second cameras panned to her during John’s acceptance speech.  Within seconds the model’s “cry face” sparked the first meme of awards season and well, let’s just say the rest is social media history.

Also making waves in the ‘hot couples’ category last night was Victoria’s Secret Angel Behati Prinsloo and husband and Globes presenter, Adam Levine.  The semi-newlyweds were the picture of elegance on the red carpet where Behati displayed her runway-ready figure in a sparkly black Kaufman Franco dress and diamond accessories by DeGrisogono.

It turns out that A-list stars recycle their favorite outfits, too. George Clooney, winner of the Cecil B. DeMille award, revealed backstage at the Golden Globes last night that he was wearing the same tuxedo that he wore for his wedding to wife Amal Clooney back in September.  Our hearts melt. ~ Variety

Exactly one month after announcing her departure from the brand, Gucci’s creative director Frida Giannini has made a surprise exit from the company following early termination of her contract.  According to market sources, Giannini was asked to leave Gucci on Friday, more than a month earlier than anticipated.  We have to wonder, who will taking the bow at the men’s show next week and at the women’s one in February? ~ WWD

Cara Delevingne and Naomi Campbell Invade W Magazine’s Golden Globes Pre-Party

The Golden Globes festivities kicked off on Thursday night with W magazine’s annual star-studded private party at the Chateau Marmont.  Unsurprisingly, there was more than a couple models on hand for the event, most notably among them everyone’s favorite model-turned-actress, Cara Delevingne.  Though going solo for the night, the newly minted LOVE magazine editor appeared to be channeling her Kardashian friends as she ditched her usual menswear-inspired pieces for a risqué white mini dress featuring both side cut-outs and a plunging neckline that showed off her ample cleavage.  Ever the statement-maker, Cara wasted no time in showing off her new undercut by parting her hair dramatically to one side and accentuating the edgier new look with a dark smokey eye.

Not to be outdone, Naomi Campbell made sure to capture the attention of photographers when she arrived on the arm of director Lee Daniels.  Much like Cara, the supermodel put on a sexy display for the Hollywood event, opting for a daring gold sweater dress featuring a navel-grazing V-neck and thigh-high black suede boots.

Together, the two British beauties appeared to have quite the night as they mingled with guests and posed for photos with Daniels, Toni Garrn and and Chiltern Firehouse founder Andre Balazs.  Cara even managed to sneak in a few goofy faces for our enjoyment.

Look of the Week: Kendall Jenner Keeps Cozy in Chic Winter Neutrals

When it comes to monochromatic dressing, few have mastered the art as well as Kendall Jenner, evidence of which could be seen at Wednesday night’s Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers game.  Taking her courtside seat next to Cara Delevingne  and sister Khloe Kardashian, Kendall displayed her knack for neutrals in complementing shades of cream and taupe for a look that was equal parts cozy and chic.  Ever mindful of proportions, the model of the moment opted for an oversize Acne Studios sweater dress to balance the skinny and structured nature of her thigh-grazing leather boots, adding a white croc skin envelope clutch to round out the look.  In keeping with the streamlined appeal of her ensemble, the model gathered her into a sleek chignon featuring a neat middle part and paired the look with nude lips and perfectly groomed brows.  For those not lucky enough to be enjoying LA’s milder temperatures as of late, simply add a pair of thick opaque tights or another Kendall-favorite, leather leggings, for the ultimate going out look.

Get the First Look at THAT Top Secret Victoria’s Secret Swimwear Show

It looks like all signs are pointing to a Victoria’s Secret Swim Fashion Show in the near future!

Following last month’s reports that the lingerie giant was set to film its first swimwear show in Puerto Rico, a recent influx of Instagram photos are now giving us our first look at the Angels top secret project.

After posting several photos of the bikini-clad models frolicking on an undisclosed tropical beach with the hashtag #somethingbigiscoming, the brand took things a step further on Thursday when it shared a snap of Joan Smalls, Alessandra Ambrosio and Lily Aldridge writing, “@joansmalls@alessandraambrosio & @lilyaldridge having some fun girl time in #PuertoRico.  Wonder what they’re doing there… #somethingbigiscoming.”  Joan also regrammed a photo from Victoria’s Secret CEO Ed Razek, which saw the her and Alessandra posing on the beach in skimpy swimsuits.

The French fashion industry has lent its vocal and visual support to the “Je Suis Charlie” campaign, asserting the need to protect freedom of speech in the wake of the terrorist attack on the offices of satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo on Monday, in which 12 people were killed.  Among the protesters taking to social media were Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci, Balmain’s Olivier Roustein, Karl Lagerfeld and Jean Paul Gaultier among others.  ~ Vogue UK
