Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn Cement Their Friendship With Matching Tattoos

Some best friends get matching necklaces to solidify their friendship.  Others get matching tattoos.  Can you guess which route Cara Delevingne and Jourdan Dunn decided to take?

That’s right— the model BFFs took to Instagram on Monday to reveal that they had gotten matching ‘DD’ tattoos done by none other than Cara’s go-to tattoo artist, Bang Bang.  ”Throw some D’s on that… @bangbangnyc @caradelevingne #DDs,” wrote Jourdan alongside a photo of the girls’s fresh new ink— located on their right hip  in case you were wondering— to which Cara added: “So happy we got our DDs! Your Guide to the Hottest Model-Designer Collaborations of the Season

There was a time not long ago— namely the lull between the fall of the ’90s supermodel and the rise of social media— when a model was simply meant to be seen and rarely heard.  There was no Instagram for them post gorgeous selfies, or Twitter for them share their sense of humor and point of view.  Hard to believe right? Thankfully, the wonderful world of social media has since exploded, offering today’s top models a platform to not only showcase their personalities, but also, and perhaps more importantly, build their own booming brands.

Now, more brand-driven than ever, today’s top models are putting their personal stamp on the very products they were hired to sell, offering us model fan gals a wide-range of supermodel-approved goods to choose from.  And while the model-turned-designer trend arguably started back in the mid-2000′s with Kate Moss designing for Topshop and Agyness Deyn for Doc Marten’s, the number of model/designer collaborations has since risen with such frequency that there very well may be more model collaborations on the market currently than those by actual designers and artists.

To start, there’s Karlie Kloss, who teamed up with Warby Parker to design a line of sunglasses launching today.  The capsule collection includes three insanely flattering frames (named Julia, Marple, and Clara), each with ombre lenses and a 1970s aesthetic. And, much like her sweet partnership with Momofuku Milk Bar, there’s a charity element: Sales of the $145 glasses will benefit Edible Schoolyard NYC, a nonprofit that encourages healthier eating in low-income public schools.

Cara Delevingne Designed a Capsule Collection for DKNY and She Wants YOU to Model It With Her

Teaming up with DKNY is nothing new for Cara Delevingne — not only has she strutted her stuff on its runway, but she’s also taken to the city’s streets to front its campaigns on numerous occasions.  So how does one top dancing on top of cabs and posing with A$AP Rocky and Jourdan Dunn? Easy, you design your own collection for the brand!

The London-born model and burgeoning actress is once again entering the design world with a 15 piece unisex capsule collection for the New York-based brand, slated to hit stores this November.  Of the partnership, Cara said in a statement, “When I first came to NYC when I was 15 years old and saw the DKNY mural on Houston Street, I was wowed. To me, DKNY captured the essence of New York and set trends for young people everywhere.”
