After the Show It’s the After Party!

As the biggest fashion event of the year came to a close late Monday night, the ball gown and diamond-clad models snuck out for one last outfit change (most did anyway) before hitting the night’s star-studded after parties, where the real fun began.  At the Top of the Standard Beyonce and Jay Z held court over a room filled with supermodels, designers, and countless Hollywood stars.  Rosie Huntington-Whiteley changed into a zebra-print beaded Balmain look before making her entrance on the arm of Olivier Rousteing.  Fellow model-turned-actress Suki Waterhouse also embraced the opportunity to dress down, switching out her stunning extravagant Burberry gown for a color-blocked wrap dress and one major accessory— the handsome Bradley Cooper.  Similarly, Kate Upton took time out of her heavily ruffled Dolce & Gabbana dress to party in a ’60s style caped white lace mini dress and jeweled heels.

Meanwhile at Up & Down Rihanna hosted to her own post-gala shindig, featuring Chrissy Teigen, Shanina Shaik, Cara Delevingne, Kristen Stewart, Riley Keough, Rita Ora and  more.  After turning heads on the red carpet in her non-ball gown Stella McCartney look, Cara kept right on her crop top trend, this time pairing it with a black leather jacket and black Frame Denim Le Color Rip jeans.   Jourdan Dunn, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Ming Xi were also on hand for what was no doubt a raucous end to a very fashionable evening, and were seen having fun in a photo booth with the likes of Ireland Baldwin and Kylie Jenner.

Battle of the Ball Gowns: Best Dressed at the 2014 Met Gala

With a strict ‘white tie and decorations’ dress code that caused grumbles throughout the fashion community for weeks, the red carpet at last night’s annual Met Gala was serious business. We’re talking major princess-worthy ball gowns, men in coat tails, and evening gloves galore! But who was among the best-dressed?  Let’s break it down.

Best Ball Gowns: First there was Karolina Kurkova, who stunned in an elaborate hand-painted Marchesa couture gown and over 60 karats of Harry Winston diamonds.  Not to be outdone, Liu Wen and Karen Elson proved their knack for formal dressing in larger than life Zac Posen gowns.  Meanwhile, Suki Waterhouse proved to be one of the most talked about women on the carpet, donning an insanely beautiful blush pink tiered Burberry evening dress.  In an ode to Cinderella, Toni Garrn looked elegant in a structured blue dress by Topshop, as did Maybelline’s newest face Jourdan Dunn, who opted for a form-fitting bright yellow design by the high street brand.  Finally, major props must be given to Karlie Kloss, who did retro brocade like nobody’s business in her stunning Oscar de la Renta strapless gown.

The Complete Guide to the Models’ Red Carpet Looks at the 2014 Met Gala

Met Gala is always an ultra-glamourous affair, but this year’s theme— white tie and decorations in honor of the technologically advanced couturier Charles James— all but guaranteed a red carpet spectacular to the highest degree.  Karolina Kurkova, Liu Wen, Arizona Muse, Karlie Kloss and Suki Waterhouse stunned in some of the most elaborate ball gowns we’ve ever seen, while others, including Gisele Bündchen, Georgia May Jagger, Chanel Iman and Adriana Lima opted for sleek and sexy floor-length gowns. That’s not to say there weren’t a few surprises on the carpet.  Cara Delevingne showed little regard for the expected ball gown look, opting for a modern black cut-out Stella McCartney crop top and white skinny trousers instead.  Similarly, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley dared to bare her legs in a leopard-print Balmain mini dress, while Joan Smalls accentuated her flawless Vera Wang gown with a bright purple lip (courtesy of Estee Lauder).
