Wild and Crazy Couture Creations!

It’s hard to believe there has been such a buzz around the two-bride finale at Chanel’s Spring 2013 Couture show yesterday when, after all the years of couture shows, we can confidently say “we’ve seen wilder.” The Haute Couture collections are a designer’s chance to show off their team’s handiwork – literally. Every stunning creation you see on a couture runway is hand stitched!  While Haute Couture is all about creating clothes with an insane attention to detail and craftsmanship, it is also a place for designers to let their imaginations run wild. Such High Fashions are like works of art – both visually stunning and conceptually challenging. From jewel-encrusted face masks to skirts large enough to hide small children, these pieces are things of fantasy with absolutely no concern for practicality. No matter how impractical, we can’t help but dream about stepping out of the house with a giant golden lamp shade on our head – oh, the glamour of it all! So without further adieu, we present you some of the most over-the-top, wildly wonderful and just-plain-wacky couture moments!

Theyskens’ Theory Gets a Fresh Face for Spring 2013!

It was back in September when we were still making the rounds backstage at Spring Fashion Week that fresh face Wylie Hays first peaked our interest.  The LA newbie strut the runways for Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler and Theyskens’ Theory that week, and to our delight, has returned as the face of the latter’s newly-released Spring ’13 campaign!

Caught walking a dark hallway in a series of monochromatic ensembles, the blonde beauty can be seen looking over her shoulder at the camera, being handled this season by Belgian photographer Willy Vanderperre.  Taking it a step further, the ad also sees the image of Wylie confined to the corridor’s tight space juxtaposed against a shot of the gloomy Belgian seashore, taken by Olivier Theyskens himself.  “I envisioned a hip girl caught in an impersonal, slightly oppressive environment on her first day at work,” said the designer.  “I also wanted to show an image of what she could have on her mind; a vast melancholic seaside shore.  I like the contrast of the two world, one that is confined, hyperrealistic, and pragmatic and the other, emotional and disconnected.”

With a few standout runway shows and now a major ad campaign under her belt already, we’d say Wylie is well on her way to becoming a full-fledged star this fashion season.  See the newcomer’s debut campaign for Theyskens’ Theory below and be sure to keep your eyes peeled for a Fashion Week appearance or two at next month’s New York shows!

Role Models: Words and Wisdom From Cindy, Naomi, Gisele, Candice and more…

It’s no wonder that models always have the best things to say!  With some girl’s careers spanning decades spent around the world, working with so many amazing people, it’s only makes sense that our favorite models have picked up a lot of priceless knowlege along the way.  And while remarking on subjects like self esteem, happiness, love, laughter and even mascara, these girls know what they’re talking about!  From supers Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford to Angels Candice Swanepoel and Adriana Lima, there is no shortage of advice from these fashion pros.

Just last month, model mama Miranda Kerr, added author to her long list of achievements with the debut of her very first book Treasure Yourself: Powerful Thoughts for My Generation.  A collection of thoughts, memories and lessons aimed to put young women on a path of self-improvement, Miranda reflects on her own incredible life story and all of the life lessons she has learned along the way. And with such wisdom as “A rose can never be a sunflower and a sunflower can never be a rose.  All flowers are beautiful in their own way, and that’s like women too,” we can’t wait to read more from Miranda!

Luckily for us, we are also able to catch up with our favorite models thanks to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  And while we love clicking through all their beautiful photos, it’s an extra bonus receiving so much inspirational advice.  Seriously, models like Karolina Kurkova have so many insightful tips, tricks and life lessons to share that are such great treats throughout the day (not to mention it earned her our Tweeter With The Best Tips award!).  So check out our round-up of Model Quotes in the slideshow below and take some advice with you!

Crystal Renn and Poppy Delevingne Strip Down for Agent Provocateur!

We still have a few weeks to go until the all-day chocolate binge better known as Valentine’s Day, but Agent Provocateur is wasting no time in getting us in the mood!

To start, this week marked the unveiling of the sexy lingerie label’s all-new Spring campaign starring one of our favorite bold beauties, Crystal Renn.  With Helmut Newton’s provocative style and Ed Ruscha’s retro Pop art styles in mind, the steamy ad sees Crystal playing the part of a sexed up glamazon for photographer and Purple magazine founder Olivier Zahm on the set of a Seventies gas station.  While pumping gas into old-school hot rod, Crystal makes no mistake of flaunting her sinful curves, no doubt adding more va va voom than the Mercedes parked next to her.

And Crystal isn’t the only lingerie-clad sex kitten romping around town these days!  Model-turned-actress Poppy Delevingne also makes a surprise appearance this season as the star of the brand’s latest tongue-and-cheek Mrs. Slocombe video directed by Nick Jones.  We wouldn’t want to give anything away, but let us just saw that this NSFW flick features a whole lotta skin and one, shall we say, clever double entendre. Take a look at the saucy video below to get the full look at Poppy’s acting debut and don’t miss all of Crystal’s sultry road trip campaign photos after the jump!

Milla Jovovich Returns as a Big Apple Rebel for Vogue Paris’s February Issue!

With the Manhattan skyline rising behind her, supermodel turned Hollywood action hero Milla Jovovich returns to the fashion scene this month as the cover star of Vogue Paris’ February issue, which pays homage to New York City and the the new generation of designers taking center stage this fashion season.  And while we can’t deny that the screen siren looks as lovely as ever, posed against a skyscraper in Saint Laurent for her sexy cover look, it’s the glossy’s inside editorial spread that truly has us gushing this month!

Shot by Inez & Vinoodh, the editorial sees Milla putting her Resident Evil skills to good use as a tougher-than-nails vigilante who is actually so bad-ass that she doesn’t even need a real gun for her crime-fighting spree.  While hitting the city’s mean streets in a series of all-black looks from the likes of Prada, Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana and Alexander Wang, the former model muse gives ‘fierce’ a whole new meaning as she calls for a stick up on top of a gleaming skyscraper. With her steely gaze and ‘Cool Hand Luke’ demeanor, we’ll admit, this is one fashion stunner we would not want to cross!

Check out Milla’s action-packed spread below and catch the full New York City-dedicated issue of Vogue Paris on newsstands January 23rd!
