Power Walks from Power Models at Alexander Wang

To say that Alexander Wang held a power model lineup for his Fall 2010 show would be a vast understatement.

Situated again at Pier 94 on the West Side Highway, the massive space only heightened the excitement for Alex’s newest collection. Modelinia arrived early expecting the best, and our expectations were completely surpassed. Upon walking backstage, we found Natalia Vodianova holding court in a huge black tutu in a room that held her notable model colleagues.

From Karlie Kloss to Agyness Deyn to Sasha Pivovarova to Natasha Poly, heads were turning at the major models here, there, everywhere. It goes without saying that the runway stunners for Alex had nothing but praise for the designer. “I love him to death. He’s a sweetheart,” quipped Agyness, while Natasha admitted that she buys his designs every chance she gets, and Iris Strubegger gushed over her favorite leather bag created by Alex.

The front row, which included Carine Roitfeld, Diane von Furstenberg, Olivier Zahm, and the pint-sized Tavi Gevinson, sat in rapture to see Natalia open—and close!—the show, which, true to Alex’s creativity, will prove to be a collection everyone craves. Backstage, Agyness let us in on her new project: a lifestyle website that she’s creating with her good friend Fiona Byrne. Expect to see Aggy’s hard work come to fruition in late spring.

Oh, and one last note: Models were angling for nail polish bottles, as one makeup artist asked the nail pro where should could find extra bottles to gift the models. Find a color that matches, ASAP. ~ Bianca Posterli
