For his first runway show, Prabal Gurung’s third collection proved he is one mean tailor. We’ve seen how the designer can cut his cloth to create stunning sheaths, but for Fall the designer took on outerwear with aplomb. Styles were loose yet chic; our favorite was Olga Sherer’s red and black hoodie.
Back on familiar territory, the dresses were cut tighter, slimmer than his coats and shifts from previous seasons. There was color blocking galore, perfected—we thought—in the beige and white number that Vlada Roslyakova stomped down the runway in. There were ruffles, there was fur, there was feathers, with lots of sparkling looks to round out the collection. Our awe-inducing moment? When Marike Le Roux was sent out in a dazzling one-shoulder gold confection, with a ruffled asymmetrical neckline and a slit at the skirt—it left us thirsty for our next cocktail party. ~ Jessica Mahler
