Pretty in Poland: Rachel Khona of Q Models Heads Back to the States

Modelinia is proud to present guest blogger, Rachel Khona, a model booker at Q Models, who has dutifully reported back to Modelinia about her recent scouting experience in Poland! Here’s her final post for Modelinia, but catch up on Rachel’s time in Poland here and here.

I’m back here in the New York office after a fun filled week of scouting in Poland. Poznan and Krakow turned out to be just as great as Warsaw. In Poznan, I met with Hook Models and Zanzara both who had some great options. Unfortunately I was in Poznan for such a short time, I didn’t really get to explore the city. But Krakow was absolutely beautiful! The old town looked as though it hadn’t changed since medieval times. In my down time, I was able to take a tour of Wawel Castle and check out the old town. It was surprisingly modern and chic, I even found a Sephora! Nothing warms my heart more than rows of lipgloss and perfume.

Over in the old Jewish quarter, I discovered a relatively new agency called 8fi in Krakow. My new friend Filip showed me some of his latest finds, including one boy who just got confirmed for Diesel! I was excited to find a new agency that is already so on top of it.  Now that I’m back in New York, I’m just sorting through the cards and digitals I took before presenting them to the board. Although I saw a lot of great new faces, it’s time to really narrow down the prospects. Good skin, height, and weight are important. And of course, there’s that certain “je ne sais quoi”, that extra special something that is hard to pin point.  After both the Men’s and Women’s boards decide who they like, I’ll request more materials, digitals, books, and videos.  Then we’ll make our final decision and the negotiations begin! Sometimes a model is in school or already has travel plans or has another agency interested in them. It can be a year or more before we ever see a model in New York or it could be as little as three months. In spite of the wait, it’s worth it when you have finally have a fresh face excited to start working in New York.

Anyway it’s been great blogging for Modelinia for the past week. I can’t wait for next time! Now it’s back to work!

xoxo,
Rachel
