Revamp Your Home for Summer with Tips from Molly Sims' Interior Decorator!

Even though we try to spend as much time outside during the summer as we can, sometimes it’s just way too hot and we’d rather sit in front of an air conditioner than be sweaty and uncomfortable just for the sake of being outdoors. Just like your wardrobe, the interior of your home should get a few tweaks and changes per season and we looked no further than Molly Sims‘ interior decorator, Kishani Perera, for some tips.

Below are three budget-friendly tips for recreating your space for the hot summer months to come!

  1. Try to liven up your space for the warm months by swapping out heavier textiles for light, breezy textiles. Although I love velvet toss cushions in my bedroom and living room in the winter, I simply pop those covers off and replace them in the summer because there is something unappealing about warm textures when the temperatures soar.
  2. I love bringing bright, fun colors into the home for the summer. This can be done easily and with budget friendly finds such as a vibrant turquoise vase from a flea market, hot pink place settings for the table from World Market, or an electrifying orange bowl for the kitchen counter from eBay. I like to use vintage textiles, such as African Kuba cloths or mud cloths for a pop of texture and color on my sofa or chair arms.
  3. I love bringing the outdoors in; channel the sunshine through lively colors, the relaxing spirit of easy breezy fabrics and accessories, and also by filling my home with fresh blooms. There is nothing like fresh flowers, and even fruits, to easily decorate your space for the season.
