Ruffles Get Flouncey For Spring

As soon as the weather warms up, we want to be shaking our booty in the new Spring’s new skirts. We’ve tired of “the maxi” and “the pencil” is just too restricting- this Spring it’s all about “the ruffle.” Unlike the layered or tiered ruffles of seasons past this single ruffle does not add bulk to the body. Unlike A-line ruffles that slowly move away from the figure, this style is fitted through the hip and only flares at the seam. We first saw the bouncey hemline at Balenciaga in September where Nicolas Ghuesquiere showed double sided foam skirts with a single ruffle that zig-zagged from the hip to the floor for a very leggy effect. This skirt is quintessentially the opposite of the skinny jeans you’ve been wearing in these winter months, but that doesn’t mean it’s too sexy. If you’re looking to wear this awesome style now, pair with tights and perhaps a baggy sweatshirt, for a balanced look. Naomi has been spotted sporting some Alaia dresses with this silhouette already and it will be everywhere come spring so follow our lead and get your hands on it now.
