Christopher Bailey kept things bright and upbeat for Spring 2013, with a collection full of sweet color concoctions and shiny wrapper materials. While infusing the brand’s staple military-inspired pieces into the season’s brighter point of view, the designer presented an eye-catching array of dresses, trench coats, and short-sleeve shirts in textured hot pink and purple foil materials complete with fishtail flairs at the hem. Aside from the Candy Land inspired pieces, Bailey also presented a handful of white and champagne colored architectural trench jackets and capelets— modeled by the likes of Cara Delevingne, Constance Jablonski, Edie Campbell, Jourdan Dunn, Kate King, Ava Smith, Kinga Rajzak, Liu Wen— that offered a cool alternative to the rest of the collection’s gleaming pieces.

Neon colors were still in high demand at Erdem today, as the designer unveiled a youthful collection of intricate paisley and lace designs done in a multitude of sherbert hues. The ladylike offerings came in the form of polished dresses and lace tops worn with A-line skirts that seemed reminiscent of a ’50s housewife done over with Erdem’s cotton-candy infused vision for spring. Vivid gemstones, 3-D flowers, and exotic snake skins gave an added dose of modern sophistication to the lineup that was worn by the likes of top models Andie Arthur, Jasmine Tookes, and up-and-comer Anais Pouliot.

Although the runway was flooded with delicate pastels and ladylike silhouettes, Frankenstein was the true unsung hero behind Christopher Kane’s spring collection. Hip hugging dresses featured strips of black electrical tape, while stiff-shouldered leather biker jackets and corset-style dresses made subtle references to the famed literary character. Perhaps the boldest reference came in the form of an Andy Warhol looking sleeveless t-shirt that featured a bright screen print of the monster’s face, worn in juxtaposition with a sheer, embroidered skirt. Rising models Kel Markey, Jac, Katlin Aas, Mackenzie Drazan, Maria Bradley, Elza Luijendijk, Marie Piovesen, and Sara Blomqvist were standouts for this season’s tongue-in-cheek collection.

Leather and silk combined on the Giles runway today, offering a wide array of textures and silhouettes for Spring 2013. Tailored leather dresses in traditional haute couture shapes featuring artistic tiny cutouts gave way to bejeweled frocks with sheer paneling, and denim suits. While the color palette remained mostly black and white, a series of horse prints done on billowing satin blouses and loose trousers, provided a playful touch. Pops of bright pink were spotted on all the models however, including Fashion Week regulars Hanne Gaby Odiele, Cara Delevingne, Ginta Lapina, Codie Young, and Saskia de Brauw.
