April showers will bring Prada flowers this spring! Miuccia Prada plastered abstract flower prints on everything from structured black dresses, to kimono-style tunics, making the feminine symbol her central focus for the season. Although full of flower power, the Spring 2013 collection featured mostly black and white pieces, with the exception of a few satin dresses and thick fur coats that revealed pops of crimson, peach, and green. When mixed with hot pants and bra tops, the collection displayed some ’60s Mod influence that could easily be imagined on the likes of Twiggy. For this season though, the Prada woman came in the form of runway models Aymeline Valade, Jessica Stam, Ginta Lapina, Kasia Struss, Maartje Verhoef (the Dutch model opened the show), and closer Daria Strokous. For their beauty looks, the girls were all given choppy pixie cuts done in either deep chestnut brown or platinum blonde, along with some bright red pouts. Meanwhile, the show’s most buzzed about pieces came in the form of metallic toe socks that were worn either on their own, or with bejeweled platform wedge heels— definitely a sight to see!

For spring, Max Mara is taking us on an African safari, thanks to a collection that was full of exotic prints, military-influenced silhouettes, and Sahara infused color schemes. To start off, the Italian label presented a string of sleek pant suits that featured cargo pockets and exaggerated shoulders, which gave them more of a utilitarian feel. Eventually, structured blouses in khaki and olive green hues gave way to animal printed plaid pencil skirts and oversized coat dresses that looked as romantic and feminine as they did tomboy cool. Top models Zuzana Bijoch, Julia Nobis, Nadja Bender, and Cora Emmanuel were all spotted on the runway donning orange-brown hued smokey eyes and matching headscarves. Prepare yourselves for the wild, fashion adventure that lies ahead!
