Runway Report: DKNY Is The Coolest Kid in School

Although Sunday is the day of rest, there was nothing sleepy about this afternoon’s DKNY Fall 2013 runway show.  A vibrant video screen backdrop, displaying neon NYC streets and the heavy bass of the hottest tunes served as the pulse for Donna Karan’s DKNY Collection.  Campaign star and Fashion Week heavyweight, Cara Delevingne, served as the show’s opener AND closer, while models Andie Arthur (with a new fabulous darker-do avec bangs) and Jasmine Tookes followed suit.  And although we have seen a lot of hair pulled back this season, DNKY presented long stick-straight locks instead.  Paired with minimal makeup like slightly rosy cheeks, the collection presented bright colors and patterns that woke us right up!

Shocking pink coats, blood red pant suits, nude camel shades and animal spots galore mixed in with 90s grunge and street themes were some of the day’s vibrant styles.  Black wool beanies and cat-eye sunnies were the coolest accessories pairing we’ve seen in some time.  As the models weaved around the different rows of fashion’s finest, we even spotted Bill Cunningham snapping away from his seat as Cara strutted by.  The music provided the perfect track to the show’s NYC pace with a mashup of Rihanna and Papa Roach as well as a mashup of Frank Sinatra and Notorious BIG during the epic finale.  One thing has become certain, Donna Karan has her finger on what’s cool and she’s not letting go anytime soon!
