Runway Report: J.Crew is a Mix and Match Master

We can always count on J.Crew to deliver classic pieces in bright colors and prints, styled together in a fun, sophisticated way and today’s Fall 2013 Presentation was certainly no exception!  The collection’s vibrant color palette drew inspiration from J.Crew’s head of women’s design, Tom Mora’s trip to Marrakech and encapsulated both youth and adventure with the infamous J.Crew stamp of refinement.   The many combinations of unexpected textures and patterns served as the perfect morning pick-me-up.  There were many bold trends on the models, who lined up single-file, facing a long row of handsome and impeccably dressed men as if we were standing in the large hall of a prep school dance.

Making a change from last season’s high pony tails and bright pink lips, the models’ hair was swept back into a messy bun and they sported dewy skin and glossy red lips.  With colors ranging from bubble gum pink, neon orange, lavender, lime green, fuchsia, to cobalt blue, we also did see a little bit of black, white and camel.  Glitter played a key role in the presentation, in the form of stratigically placed broaches, shimmery pendants, headbands, and across the lapel of the most exquisite white-collared camel coat.

Cropped trousers were also popular in camel, grey, and s black and red checkered fabric.  A few other memorable pairings included a plum printed cropped pant suit with a denim button up, a pink and navy floral skirt suit with a striped long sleeved tee underneath and finally a metallic lavendar brocade cropped pant with a lavender cable knit sweater and mauve coat.  With unbelievable styling, stand-out pieces and above all, impeccable taste, this is one collection that we won’t be able to wait for to hit the stores!
