Runway Report: Marchesa Makes A Romantic Of Us All

If you don’t have a date for Valentine’s Day, no need to worry because Marchesa’s Fall 2013 collection has more than enough romance to go around.  Drawing inspiration from Spanish romantic painter, Francisco de Goya’s, “Portrait of Maria Tera de Vallabriga on Horseback,” we were immediately transported to the 17th century with exquisite details like gold leaf embroidery, billowing gauze blouses, and the most stunningly intricate gowns.

The New York Public library set the scene for this evening’s runway show, led by elegant models like Jacquelyn Jablonski, Ruby Aldridge, Sui He and Jourdan Dunn.  Regal satin gowns in grey, amethyst, fuchsia, black and blood red were certainly the standout jewels.  The fuchsia gown on model Sui He was the most spectacular sight for our inner girly girl.  Fashion fixture and shoe designer, Tabitha Simmons, styled the show’s collection and beauty guru Gucci Westman for Revlon provided the models’ flawless makeup.  The simplicity of the hair, in an unpolished bun, was a nice touch next to the complicated masterpieces.  It’s no doubt that Marchesa delivers time and time again and this collection was no exception.  Romance and elegance win every time!
