It kind of a given that in any Rachel Zoe production, there’s going to be some level of ’70s style involved. But while the designer’s previous collections have gone the route of flowy maxi dresses and late hippie prints, for Fall 2013 the multitasking Zoe veered more towards the way of equestrian sportswear. Incorporating classic menswear elements and intricate baroque detailing into her studied ’70s silhouettes, Zoe’s latest collection offered a range of tailored slim-fit three-piece suits, slouchy leather pants and Mod minis. The color palette stayed true to the season’s array of rich tones like caramel, deep brown and moss green, while infusing hints of gold, mulberry and cobalt for added pops of color. Knee-high riding leather riding boots and brogues looked clean and polished, while zipper details, leather embellishments and luxe furs provided a rock n’ roll edge— think Kate Moss off-duty— to the sophisticated lineup.
Being the mega-watt star that she is, Zoe had no trouble rounding up fashion’s finest for the viewing. Hot off the premiere of their hit reality show The Face, Coco Rocha, Nigel Barker and contestant Stephanie Lalanne were front and center for the occasion, along with Aussie gal Jessica Hart and pop diva Miley Cyrus.
