This Fashion Week provided a very exciting addition to the regularly scheduled programming of shows and parties when it was announced that a few supermodels would be walking in the Adrienne Vittadini show. We asked Frederique van der Wal to share her return to the runway with Modelinia and blog about the experience for us!
Upon waking up, I could feel the knot in my stomach…that afternoon I had to walk a fashion show: Adrienne Vittadini. You would probably think, she’s been doing this for so long she doesn’t get nervous anymore…well that ain’t true. Whatever it is, a live TV show, a speaking arrangement, or waking a show, it still makes me nervous.
After arriving at the tents at Lincoln Center (which by the way, I liked Bryant Park much more!) I spotted some familiar faces like Niki Taylor and Carol Alt and Roshumba. How fun to do a show with some iconic models, including the fabulous Carmen [Dell'Orefice.] Pat Cleveland who was and proved again on the Vittadini show still is one of the most amazing runway girls. She can work it! And a great personality to say the least.
Backstage, everyone was chitchatting together, as there was lots to catch up on: where they have been, how many kids, how fun to walk a show again. We had the show in the Box which is a more intimate space with a small runway…thank God. Backstage while being made up , the press wandered in and out, taking pictures and interviewing us. The responses were amazing; people loved seeing us on the runway and it was a great feeling. The show went well and we had a standing ovation…well, everyone was standing to begin with but it felt like a standing ovation. The clothes looked great and the champagne flowed after and while as a celebration of a great moment in fashion.
