In anticipation of this weekend’s outdoor picnics and BBQ parties celebrating Independence Day, we went on a search for a yummy model-approved grilling recipe that even the most amateur chiefs could master in time for the firework displays.
While the rest of the country will no doubt be serving up an endless amount of cheeseburgers, hotdogs, and potato salad, we wanted to mix things up a bit and share a recipe that will stand out among the masses of picnic favorites. Enter Lonneke Engel, the Dutch model, certified health counselor, and founder of Organice Your Life. Lonneke is all about making little efforts to achieve major results that help improve personal health and wellness. In a twist on the usual red, white, and blue frosted cupcake, Lonneke inspired us to get creative with the grill this weekend with one of her favorite grilled desserts, that’s guaranteed sweet, clean-up free, and positively good for you! So, start that grill because you’re not going to want to wait for this Fourth of July treat!
Recipe:
*1 banana, per person, peeled
*Brown sugar or maple syrup to taste
Directions:
- Peel the banana and sprinkle with the brown sugar or maple syrup to taste
- Wrap the banana (not too tight), so there is some space on top of the banana for air
- Place on the grill and cook until the banana is warm and soft- about 20-30 minutes
Advice:
* The less sugar you use, the healthier it gets!
