To be honest, snakes and slithering creatures give us the chills, but add a supermodel and we’ll watch any video.
By now, everyone’s seen the Balmain Fall 2010 campaign, starring Kate Moss, but no one knew that the photographers - Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin - were planning a little something extra. Before Kate arrived for the shoot, they set up four cameras to capture Kate in her posing glory and transitioned the footage into a video. With the creative assistance from artist Jo Ratcliffe, animated illustrations of snakes play co-host to Kate’s modeling, to parlay sentiments of a fantasy inner world. ”We are fascinated with the different realities going on in one shoot and so the music, the animation, Kate’s movements and the camera angle represent these layers of perception,” explained Inez.
Snake phobia or not, this video from Inez and Vinoodh provides a really interesting look at just how much innovative content can be derived from a single photoshoot.
