Michael Kors had perhaps the most impressive model line-up we’ve seen all week. Erin Wasson, Karolina Kurkova, Magdalena Frackowiak, Karlie Kloss, and Frida Gustavsson all took the designer’s Safari themed runway yesterday with Rosie Huntington-Whitely watching from the front row.
Leopard kaftans, khaki shorts, elements of tie-dye and feathery frocks decorated the runway, transporting us to an African Safari, as was Kors’ intention. A few bursts of yellow and orange trickled in to the muckier, jungle palette of army greens, camel tones, and muddy browns. Keeping within the urban jungle meets African safari theme, the models’ hair was slickly pulled back in the front and tied into a messy, braided-esque ponytail, with make-up kept fresh and natural.
With a ferocious line-up of animal prints and reptile skins, one would think the models would be told to keep a serious, “on the hunt” face on the runway; but we were pleasantly surprised to find the girls smirking throughout the show, with Frida leading the final walk with a full-fledged smile. A nice change to the usually stern faces we see on the majority of the runways.
