Style File: Shop New York Fashion Week's Black and White Trend!

There have been a bevvy of memorable black and white ensembles that have left their mark on fashion history. From Marlene Dietrich performing in a men’s tuxedo in Morocco (1930) to Julia Robert’s accepting an Oscar in black and white Armani, and, of course, Christian Dior’s “New Look” from 1957, black and white has been a long time staple for “Chic” –with a capital C. Black and white is also part of the brand identity of one of the most well recognized luxury brands in the world- yes, the one and only, CHANEL! While wild prints have been the vibe for the past few seasons, many designers, Marc Jacobs and Alexander Wang included, have gone “back to black.” The perfectly paired duo cues hundreds of metaphorical references from stark and minimalist, to good and evil, and Ying and Yang. But for this season, black and white couldn’t be further from simplistic. Just look at Alexander Wang’s black and white looks, which were creatively pieced together using fishing wire and glowed in the dark! And, of course, if there is one standout model-off-duty look, it’s got to be the classic white t-shirt, black leather jacket and black with matching converse! We’re feeling this high contrast look for fall, and have chosen the best of the best from statement pieces to accessories to help you nail the trend.
