Maybe it’s the new haircut or the eyeglasses, but we love this super chic and smart look on Karlie Kloss, so much so that it is our Look of the Week!  Spotted out at Tuesday night’s Ninth Annual CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards, Karlie’s minimal and classic ensemble stole the show.  Karlie paired her white Cushnie et Ochs blouse and skirt with black pointed heels, a black clutch, CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award nominee (and runner up!) Jennifer Meyer‘s Yellow Gold & Diamond ‘K’ Pendant Necklace and of course some super sexy tortoise shell frames.  It didn’t hurt either that Karlie’s date was fellow model, Jourdan Dunn- also in Cushnie et Ochs and matching specs!

From the floral embellishments on the blouse to the sheer bottom of her skirt, it’s the intricate and elegant details of the look that pulls us in like a fine painting.  Although we also love seeing Miss. Kloss showing skin on the Victoria’s Secret runway or in a sexy gown on the red carpet, we can’t help but applaud this stylish look.  Karlie’s style is definitely evolving and we can’t wait to see more!  To get Karlie’s Look of the Week, check out our picks in the slideshow below:

Rag & Bone is one of those shows that everyone – insiders, celebrities, designers and models alike all look forward to. Not surprisingly, the backstage was a madhouse but within the mob we found Hanne Gaby Odiele quietly reading a book on an anthropologists work in a tribe. Not wanting to keep her away too long we quickly asked her what she’s most looking forward to after fashion week, upon which she quickly replied “My birthday!” on October 8th. Next we caught up with Karolina Kurkova looking iconic in a white Jonathan Saunders dress. This is Karolina’s first time walking for Rag & Bone and she couldn’t help but profess her excitement, particularly after being a part of their latest DIY ad campaign. “I’ve always loved Rag & Bone but I think this is one of their best collections yet. It really feels complete with all the surfer elements, the neons, and the netted dresses,” she told us. “I’ve really enjoyed working with them and loved doing the campaign. I was in Ischia for a film festival at the time and it was my idea to get together with Helena. I didn’t know her very well but I’ve always admired her photographs and knew that I wanted to work with her. All we had was a tiny camera, no light crew, no special effects, no make-up team, it was all natural and I’m really happy with how they turned out. But I’m excited to see the rest of the photos by the other girls!” Before we had a chance to respond, backstage staffers were shouting “First looks! First looks!” and we were rushed to the front of the house to take our seats.

The show consisted of an intricately mapped out runway where models took all sorts of turns before making their way to the end. Fei Fei Sun opened, breezing by us with an impossibly fast walk that set the speed for the rest of the show. She was soon followed by Arizona Muse, Ruby Aldridge, Joan Smalls, Liu Wen, Jac, Shu Pei Qin and Julia Stegner who we’re delighted to see back on the runway this season. Karmen Pedaru closed the show wearing a sheer grey knit sweater with a bright orange bandeau bikini that matched the neon highlights on her shoes and coat. After seeing the collection in all its entirety, we couldn’t agree with Karolina more. This is hands down one of the best collections by designers Marcus Wainwright and David Neville and certainly set the tone for the rest of Fashion Week.

Prabal Gurung credits this season’s runway as his best model cast yet and backstage before the show, it was very clear to Modelinia as to why. The celebrated designer had countless top models preparing to walk down the Fall 2011 runway – from Karlie Kloss to Jourdan Dunn to Frida Gustavsson. Though tight in quarters, we chatted with Karlie, who’s in her eighth season of shows and just three months away from her high school graduation! (Serious congrats from us, girl) She flew into the backstage area with a flurry of kisses for her friends, and we couldn’t help but notice her bare legs in the 20 degree February temperatures.

“I was running out the door this morning,” she explained, “and I realized in the elevator that I didn’t have any tights so I ran back into my apartment and grabbed some and ran out the door. I knew I was going to get yelled at for running around with no pants on! My mom was up here and she just left yesterday. Joan [Smalls] was already yelling at me. I was walking down the street and everyone was like, ‘Where are your pants?’” Presumably the cold has little affect on Karlie now, considering her experiences posing in the blizzard for Vogue magazine. “I was thinking about that,” she smiled. “That was last year this time! In St Louis, it’s been pretty cold too so I’m pretty used to it.” Used to it as you may be, we still say, stay healthy!

With rainbow colored extensions thanks to magic from Didier Malige for Frédéric Fekkai, Prabal’s girls – Constance Jablonski, Mirte Maas, Ming Xi, Alana Zimmer, Jacquelyn Jablonski, Bruna Tenorio to name a few – strutted out following Karlie’s opening moment. With a mix of dueling inspirations in the form of John Singer Sargent’s “A Parisian Beggar Girl,” meets Miss Havisham, Prabal debuted his best model collection while his muses embodied their interpretation of his illumination. ~ Bianca Posterli
